Only an enemy of progress will be against a school feeding programme meant to help school children.

Only an enemy of progress will not ask pertinent questions about the money spent and possible duplication with federal government claims.
Are you an enemy of progress?

A cursory check with the ministry of humanitarian and disaster management would have let you know that isn't quite the case but I guess you just needed to drop Prof Osinbajo name to get your daily 5 minutes of fame

Corruption everywhere APC is in charge.
Wait o, does that mean Buhari and Osinbajo APC paparazzi school meals is a scam? A fraud? Just like what Buhari called fuel subsidies before he was voted into office?

Complimentary efforts must be difficult for you people to understand. Is there any problem if Lagos state, covers the population of kids not captured under the NHGSFP? Or do y'all just act like you hate progress like this.

This is a false and self acclaimed statement. You can come around to see for yourself. No expired Snacks, No expired drinks. The supplies are the manufacturing company themselves. Make your findings before saying what you know nothing about.

I wonder why private school pupils are exempted from programmes of this nature.
Sorry from this Government should come up with plans that would affect private school pupils positively town outage school owners. They shouldn't be seen as to alsbut as helpers afterall these pupil are also children other federal republic of Nigeria.

For instance annual dues and should be affordable.

Discos should be made to charge schools lesser than they do afterall schools open around 7 and close at worst 4 pm No microwave is used, sometimes no ACs,No electric cookers used. By 5 everywhere is locked. Most of the time they are given assumed bill. I wonder why their assumption is always on the high n not on the low so de. What gives discos the right to give assumed bill should give consumers the right to also assume their consumption themselves

JosWatchDog:
Vice President Yemi Osinbajo says at current numbers, the programme costs $1,767,169.48 per day and over 183million dollars has been invested so far in the programme.

According to the News Agency of Nigeria, Osinbajo stated this in his keynote address at the closing ceremony of the 20th Annual Global Child Nutrition Forum held at Four Seasons Hotel in Tunis, Tunisia, on Thursday.

Osibanjo was quoted as saying over 9 million pupils in 49,837 public primary schools in 26 states across Nigeria benefitted daily.

According to Osinbajo, “The programme employs 95,422 cooks, and over 100,000 smallholder farmers linked to the programme, supplying locally sourced ingredients.

“This translates to 594 cattle, 138,000 chickens, 6.8 million eggs, 83 metric tons of fish that are procured, prepared, and distributed each week.
As you can imagine, the quantity of starch and vegetables required for this programme on a weekly basis is equally impressive”

‘No food, no school’ — north-east pupils abandon classrooms after stoppage of feeding programme
December 20, 2019

Aliyu began losing hope when barely five days into the feeding, one of the vendors stopped coming because “she didn’t get money to cook for the pupils.”

The same excuse the other vendor would give, just days later.

PUPILS HAVE ‘STOPPED PRAYING FOR BUHARI’

Except for Aliyu and some of his teachers idling around, the school was almost empty weeks into resumption for the second term that TheCable visited.

Although the feeding had stopped before the end of the previous term, Aliyu had continued telling his pupils not to worry that better days awaited them in the second semester.

“They all came in their numbers first day of resumption, but sadly food vendors didn’t show up,” Aliyu explained in a depressed tone.

“Throughout the rest of that week, the pupils who used to pray for the president for feeding them saw no need to do so again. And sadly, most of them stopped coming to school.”

At the neighbouring Girei Primary School 2, the experience is similar with Rasheedat Mohammed, the school’s headteacher. She had been reading in the newspaper that the feeding was ongoing but couldn’t understand why vendors had stopped coming to her school.

“January, second term was the last time food was brought here,” she said.
