As much as I agree with you, allow me enlighten you a bit more. When you mentioned "the sight of God", do you realise that there were many many instances of consanguineous coitus and marriage in the Bible (can't say for Qur'an). A man's daughters in the Bible had sex with him and bore him children, God did not complain or punish them. Abraham married his sister. God instructed Israelites to only marry from among themselves knowing fully well that they are all from one descendant. A particular child of David had sex with another particular child of David, and it only became an issue because he was supposed to have formally asked for her instead of forcing her. One man in the Bible even married two blood sisters(their dad gave full consent).
You see, these are but few examples of what happened before God and it wasn't in record that God found it distasteful.
In ancient cultures all over the world, some of these things were rife and considered normal.
But then, since the advent of civilisation and the fact that we are evolving both anatomically and culturally for many reasons, let's stick to the idea that it's a taboo.
Whoever does it in this present age should be swiftly punished accordingly. We have enough available people to go round for sexual gratification or marital knots rather turning on family members.
