One of the suspects revealed that he had seen the advert for the sale of the man's property at the address and the security guard at the property had given him Odunukwe's phone number, after he was ordered to do so by the deceased.

The well-spoken suspect revealed that he had met Odunukwe both in Lagos and Abuja. He said he later invited the billionaire to his hotel room over the sale of the property.

The suspect added that he had stationed his accomplices in the room and he screamed at him, immediately he got into the hotel, while his accomplices attacked him from the back.

He said, "While he was still struggling" he (the suspect) injected him with a drug.
With the help of one of the suspects, they were able to evacuate his body from the hotel through the laundry room.

Two of the suspects said that they were promised the sum of N2 million.
