I have a very brilliant boy of 10 years old heading to jss1 next year.

My plan is, I don't want him to "fed" with just our usual terminologies style educational system that makes many people have nothing to show for their schooling years except knowing to speak English and a certificate alone as skills seems to be the main thing now especially (digital)

My plan is to register him in an IT hub where he can learn programming or a specialise school where he can learn cinematography (music video directing) and also introduce him to YouTube as a good source of learning all these aside the physical institution.

I plan to execute my plan by letting him get the training during holidays instead of the normal lesson and or maybe make him enrol for junior waec from jss2 while he uses one year to acquire the skill before heading to SS 1 .

How good is this plan parents in the house?

I just want him to have a direction at an early age, as in having fun while learning ,I plan to get him some gadget for that.

You are absolutely on the right path. Same thing I planned doing for my daughter (also 10years). She's currently in primary 6 and by September, hoping to gain admission into high school. Well, in her own case, she is going to be a day student and the weekends will be used for the skills acquisition programs.
I think the earlier they start, the better for them. The world is indeed evolving and it is no longer just getting the school certificate that matters.

I think it's a good idea, except for the early enrolment into junior waec. Don't try to rush his formal school education; a higher institution requires a degee of maturity as well as school smarts and this only comes gradually with age. He might get fatigued and his grades will likely start dropping.

Just add useful content (like IT) during the holidays if you see him as having the ability to cope...first in informal computer schools to get the background knowledge, then you can register him in international certified exams after his o/levels. And absolutely, you'll have to get him a personal system at home and maybe a laptop and a smartphone for computer school. Monitor his online use though, some kids get corrupted by online content.

Wish you (and him) luck.

We have to rather study our children and know what they want, assist them in that path and they would become dependent when grown and useful to themselves and their immediate environment.

Not taking them through what we want them to be, even if nah Mechanic the child is good in, you can put him in that path and let him blossom. That's what my parents did and all 6 of us are in great places.

Don't force your child to be a doctor or lawyer, other professions too are good.

Best comment.

We as parents are usually caught up in moulding our children the way we want while neglecting if such child or children wants to be moulded in that direction.

Find out what he wants to do with his life first. Cinematography ke? If he wants to be an architect or doctor for instance, you may end up ruining him.

There's absolutely nothing wrong with introducing the guy to IT or other skills he may have interest. .. It helps to give the child options.. He can choose whatever he wants when he grows up but atleast he will be exposed to them enough to make his choice.. I can't fold my hands and wait for whatever my child wants to become.. it's my duty to show him options.. The OP hasn't forced any option on his child..

I plan to introduce my kids to sports, IT and other skills when they come of age..

Pls don't rush that boy

You are about exposing him too early to things that may affect him academically

What's the rush for

What makes you think doing junior waec in jss 2 is the best for him

My advice, leave him to grow as expected of him

During long vacation, engage him with a skill

Don't phantom what will distabilise both of you
