When you compare Nigeria with Norway on this issue you appear just a little bit dense. Norway has very low crime rated because it enjoys very high development levels. Besides, the few crimes committed in Norway are nowhere near terrorist related. If you want to know how Norway treats terrorists, go and swear allegiance to any globally proscribed terrorist groups then commit acts of terrorism on their soil. I hope you live to tell the story of 'nice treatment' over there.

danvon:
Countries like Norway don't persecute criminals harshly because persecuting them doesn't change anything

Norway has a very very low crime rate

Buhari might be trying to reduce terrorism by being nice to them to prevent them from returning to their old life

But Nigerians don't understand this

Wondering the kind of training they received, maybe better use of ammunition. The north are just training their army for eventuality, the West has watered their amoteku, the east claim armless, the war ongoing somewhere at the middle. Had been hearing of Nigeria sitting on time bomb. Let the decision be decided.

Madam, no matter how much we try we can never understand the magnitude of your loss.

Having said that, we Nigerians are always overly sentimental and emotional on issues. There is no way that any govt can effectively and practically prosecute all Boko Haram soldiers. What the govt must do is to prosecute and bring to books the leaders of the group. If any of the idiotic foot soldiers realize that they have made a mistake and want to repent then that's good for the war on BH.
Even after world war 2, the allied could't prosecute foot soldiers, they only went after the identifiable leaders.
Trying to prosecute all Boko haram foot soldiers is an effort in futility, it will amount to nothing. It's practically impossible.
Also these repentant ones will be useful in getting some excellent intelligence information on how and where the remaining terrorist are.
As long as they have not been personally indentified as part of a group that killed anyone, then the best thing the govt should do is to use them for information, rehabilitate them and release them. That might sound cold, but it is the only practical and logical that the govt can do.

Iranu.

The first time, you wrote that no perpetrator of killings in the Middle Belt zone had been arrested, I countered that.

You shifted the goalpost and fixated on charges and convictions. I showed you proof.

Now, the issue is about numbers.

Do you know the type of people who behave like this?

Dishonest people.

Make up your mind. Are you interested in arrested perpetrators, convicted perpetrators, or the number of convicted perpetrators?

Muslims see fellow Muslims as brothers even if they are armed robbers, terrorists or kidnappers. if u go north u will realise that most Muslims there re sympatethic with d operation of boko haram. Islam is a violent no tolerant religion DT preaches same to its members. at times these Muslims have become monsters not BC of choice bt BC they were born into a decadent doctrine

Nice analysis, since they have been rehabilitating and realizing them as it yield any positive result ? Did this government even bother to follow up on the released repented terrorist to know what they are upto ? If rehabilitation can change this foot soldiers then they can also easily convince them again to carry gun when they have nothing to do.

This have always been the game plan. They initially groomed up this terrorists group for religious then later saw the potential to convert them for political purpose (Remember "Proscription of Ansaru/BH is unconstitu- tional"/"Buhari fault fight against BH" ? )Now, mission accomplished, the monsters they created refused to be tamed.

Hence they started advocating amnesty for killers/jihad soldiers which they have not only done but paid these murderers staggering ransom, fed them luxuriantly (more than troops fighting them), enrolled them for so called deradicalized programs and allegedly enrolled them back into the Nigerian military. The only good BH is a dead one.
They cannot be tamed until the creators are consumed by the monsters. God is a just God.

Anyone that decides to follow Boko Haram leaders is already a fool and not very smart to start with. only a gullible person will fall for their religious none sense. Yes they can be easily brainwashed to carry guns and can also be easily rehabilitated with good and effective methods and information. The govt should have a tracking system to make sure that they do not re offend of go back to Boko Haram. Once they go back then they have lost the privileged of any other future rehabilitation. They are now a second time offender. The problem is that we are not good at tracking or keeping database on anything, not just Boko haram.

Yeah you are right. Even our private organizations can’t keep data not to talk of the government. It’s dangerous leaving them go without tracking them and knowing what they are upto .

Nigeria is one of the few rotten countries in the world where murderers are rehabilitated and released. While street protesters are shot to death for exercising their fundamental human rights.

Releasing boko haram terrorist murderers under guise of ''Rehabilitation'' is nothing but Insult to boko haram victims and their families.

There's nothing like repentant terrorist!

Buhari's islamist regime is using boko haram to play taqiyya on Nigerians.

Since the powerful and competent General Azubuike Ihejirika was removed for slaughtering many Boko Haram terrorists, Boko Haram not only became strong, fulani herdsmen terrorists emerged!

Boko Haram feared General Azubuike Ihejirika a lot. The Northern sponsors of Boko Haram not only conspired to remove this able General, they ridiculously accused him of sponsoring Boko Haran! A dumb accusation that was debunked!

The North is a huge curse and cancer to this country!

The problems we have in Nigeria is not the Hausa-fulani, but the people of South west inordinate quest for political aggrandizement by minute few and indecision of the middle belt region to distinguish themselves from the manipulation of the Northern Caliphate.
