The market seems to be weary of pharmaceutical stocks amidst the endless drama of Covid-19 vaccine trials. There wasn't a surge in $AZN's price, in spite of its very promising vaccine trial result. Pfizer ($PFE) has a very good dividend yield and its a good stock to have in a portfolio. Not sure if this news would make it fly, but $PFE is expected to beat earnings estimates when 2Q2020 report is released on July 28, which may propel the stock on a sustained bullish run.

Would wait till next week for AZN. Heard options on the stock would expire this Friday. Probably that's what is holding it down despite its positive news. Added PFE to portfolio already.

My take on AZN, BioNTech, Pfizer and Moderna shares tanking despite positive reports is simply Mr. Market having a mind of its own.

As no one can time the market, you are not out of order investing based on your positive findings about a company.

In the end, you will be proved right when a final positive outcome is announced. As long as nothing goes wrong with the result of tests carried out, patience is all you need.
As late as it was on 7th July when I bought Novavax @ $104 just when they made their last breakthrough announcement, it has rebounded from dropping to around $90 back up to $139.

Meanwhile, I still consider these biotech stocks short to mid term plays due largely to covid-19.

STOCK FOCUS : Pfizer PFE $38.56
Pfizer and BioNTech's effort to develop a vaccine has been among the first to produce results, with Moderna (NASDAQ: MRNA) and AstraZeneca (LON: AZN) among those still closing the gap. With its efforts proving successful so far—the companies have taken their vaccine to Phase 2b/3 testing, set to begin within the next week or so at last report—the rewards of victory here will be dazzling.

The US government will purchase 100 million doses from Pfizer once the vaccine successfully concludes its human testing, and that's a deal valued at $1.95 billion. It's a safe bet that Pfizer and BioNTech will find ready customers waiting after that order is filled, and that's further good news for Pfizer, as reports suggest the original purchase order also contains an option for 500 million doses further. American citizens are slated to receive the vaccine at no charge.

In my candid opinion, there is lots of money in Pfizer, and smart money is already chasing it.
How do I mean? Money bags have been quietly taking position, accummulating millions of units patiently (76 million shares traded yesterday), thereby holding down the price.

Only 5 days ago it was trading around $35.
For such a huge vaccine contract, this stock will soon sky rocket to around $80-$100 before December when the first delivery will be made.

Way to go. I'm pulling the trigger anywhere between $1,700 and $1,800, depending on market reaction to its 2Q2020 earnings report. I'm certainly not waiting for it to get to $2,000. Tesla is highly volatile and one can always buy lower at price dips.

Yes you’re correct.
Tesla traders are always quick to sell when there’s any slight profit. It will take a while before it will be around that $2000 level. That’s what I’ve come to understand

Advanced Micro Devices ($AMD) seems undervalued at current price or below. From 3Q2020, HP and Lenovo will start including AMD processors in their new PCs.

Also, AMD has gained market share from INTELS and NVIDIA and it's making new chips to serve both the Server (for NVIDIA et al) and Gaming industries (i.e. the new Xbox Series X and PlayStation 5). Besides, demand in the Gaming industry has been boosted by the covid-19 lockdown.

I'm long on this one and got in yesterday ahead of its 2Q2020 earnings report on July 28.
