The proliferation of mushroom political parties is the bane of a vibrant opposition politics in Nigeria. These are paperweight political parties with little or no input to our democracy. Methinks the list should be further whittled down to say 8 at most.

But it will do Nigeria more good if Independent Candidature is introduced in our electoral laws. The party system has failed in Nigeria. Nigerian political parties and her members lack clear cut out ideologies. They are all flying blind and switch sides at will. It really sucks.

Look, all these political parties here have no single ideology. As far as we don't have political parties tailored with a particular ideology, be it leftist, conservative, labour or even at least communist. We are just joking in this country.

INEC is de-registering political parties because of their failure to win elections (at ward an local government level). When will it start de-registering parties for their failure to fulfil their electioneering campaigns??
