Fulani (hausa Now Conquered), Yoruba Must Learn From Yugoslavia Disintegration by Frankdoz8: 11:11am On Feb 08, 2020 |
JUST BEFORE THE BREAK-UP OF YUGOSLAVIA - (Position of The Southeastern Nigeria, Not Quite Defined) USING BOSNIA AS A CASE STUDY. In my last article of February 5th, 2020 which titled "Regional Policing: Nigeria Heading the way of Yugoslavia, Southeast Least Prepared" An article that was published on the Biafra Times, where I stated that other two regions out of the three main regions in Nigeria, the Southeast, Southwest and the North, only the West and the North have prepared by way of floating their regional security outfit - The 'Amotekun and the Shege Ka Fasa' respectively which now leave the Southeast as the only region out of the three that hasn't floated theirs as one bloc. When I mention Southeast here, I didnt mean the only Igbo nation no, but I mean all the occupants of the hinterland and the riverine area of the Southeastern region which is a bloc, according to regional arrangement. Now, sit back and read the narrative of the event that unfolded in Yugoslavia before it's break up and calculate the indices yourself. Before the disintegration of Yugoslavia, what we are witnessing today in the present day Nigeria was exactly what took place there before that disastrous disintegration. Yugoslavia was practicing a mixture of socialist - federal system of government which comprised of many nations which were lumped together into one nation state just like the case with Nigeria. The nations include Slovenia, Croatia, Bosnia and Herzegovina, Serbia, Montenegro, Kosovo, and republic of Macedonia, all with different cultures and value system. But before that disintegration, the Serbians just like the Fulanis of northern Nigeria were dominating every sector of the government especially the nation's military. They dominated the Yugoslavian army which was known as the 'Yugoslav People's Army', they were also responsible for the alteration of the natural demography of the entire country by mixing up other regions with her people as well as using her position in the Army to oppress other regions in a ploy to creating fear in them to prevent them from seceding. The marginalisation and oppression continued unabated until Slovenia and Croatia felt that they have had enough and forcibly conducted independence referendum in 1991 and subsequently tried to break up but was met with resistance by the Serbs. That was where the escalation and upheaval started in the journey of the disintegration of Yugoslavia. Before then, there was severe tension in all the regions, and civil war was visibly inevitable. This made other regions to begin to pile up arms and ammunition and were making preparations for any eventuality. Serbia who already has a good number of men in the Yugoslav people's Army seemed to have an edge over the rest of other regions, but the only region that was lenient and docile was Bosnia whose leaders failed to take proactive measures by procuring arms and ammunition just like others but were thinking that everything is ok and that the UN will do the needful and prevent the civil war from happening, but that was a wrong assumption. Having seen that the polity in Yugoslavia have been heated above its boiling point, and that civil war might break out any time soon, the UN stepped in and placed embargo on all the regions from procuring arms and ammunition but supported arm procurement for only the Yugoslav people's army which it sees as a sovereign national army, and that was a win win situation for the Serbians who already dominated the army. But before the embargo was placed by the UN, leaders from many other regions as explained above has already procured some arms and were able to make preparations to some extent except the Bosnian leaders, and when the war finally broke out, Bosnia were at the receiving end and were made to pay the prize. The prize was so devastating and heavy to the point that Bosnians were visited with genocide, a situation that forced the UN to lift the embargo in order to allow them a chance to defend themselves but it was already too late. Many innocent men, women and children were massacred in cold blood because of the insensitivity and the leniency of their leaders. Although the UN and other members of the international community later came in and intervened, through recognition of many secessionist regions as sovereign nations which gave birth to eight Republics and brought the large republic of Yugoslavia to an end for the sake of peaceful coexistence of neighbors You see, history has a way of repeating itself either directly in the same country or indirectly in entirely a different country but somehow God has a way of teaching a people some lessons from events of the past. Most times, such repetition occurs in a negative way, while other times, it occurs in the opposite which is usually very rare. But the most important thing for a people to note is their ability to appreciate and acknowledge their own history as well as their ability to study with understanding, the message in other peoples history to enable them figure out how to stitch broken lines together and to eke out proactive measures to preventing such a bad history from repeating itself. But sad enough, Nigerian leaders as well as Nigeria citizens are bad students of history. Similarly, the scenario that Nigeria is headed today is a replica of the story of the breakup of Yugoslavia. The insecurity and killings of innocent citizens by the foot soldiers of one ethnic group the Fulani north, and their uncontrollable procurement of arms and ammunition on a daily basis, their dominance in the national army and other security agencies as well as their dominance in all the sectors of the government in the country, was exactly the behaviour of the Serbs of Yugoslavia which plunged the country into civil war that culminated in the disastrous breakup. It is worthy to take into cognisance that this behaviour of the Northern Fulani oligarchy which fuels the security challenges in the country was the reason for the formation of Amotekun by the leaders of Western Nigeria to protect their people and to standby in case of any eventuality since the security architecture of the country has collapsed leaving every region to fend for themselves. Same thing with the north who just launched a counter security outfit 'Shege Ka Fasa' despite the fact that they already have two terror groups who are also pushing for the same cause. These two regions, the north and the west as separate blocs has unified themselves and are openly supporting their foot soldiers by means of arming them either by commission or omission in order to protect their people except the eastern region which comprises of the coastal regions and the hinterland who are still behaving like the Bosnian leaders by still believing in the divide and rule policy which was handed them by the British through their house slaves the Fulani oligarchy. It is so sad that our leaders in the eastern region are still docile and lenient just like the leaders of the Bosnians, because they are still suffering from this evil seed of divide and conquer. Now that the ball is rolling in their court, it is either they purge themselves of the pathogen that causes this disease of disunity and fight as one people or die as a house divided over itself. They must do something now and fast as one indivisible unit before it is too late for everyone. Although the eastern region already have foot soldiers that are willing to defend their land, It is up to the leaders to join forces with these foot soldiers like IPOB and others in the riverine area to form a common front to defend our land and the lives of the people or allow history to repeat itself. 11 Likes |

I read everything OP, but I think the heading is misleading. This write up is directed at the Easterners not Yorubas. From your words, three of the two major tribes already have their military outfits and this can be likened to a technical preparedness for whatever comes with the unavoidable disintegration. I still don't know why the Igbos aren't doing anything about this actually, while I was waiting on them to role out theirs, what made the air was 'enugu state employs more forest guards'. Was that even necessary? I think the Igbos are not united, (please no insult intended) but it is the truth. Yorubas managed to fall in line for 'amotekun' and it was quite plausible how everyone supported it inspite of the different political affiliations. How wish same could be written about 'Biafra agitations', one group is IPOB another one is MASSOB or however it's spelt. Why two to start with? Why are the political leaders not drumming their supports for the movement? Why do some interchangeably mix Biafra with politics? Why does it have to remind everyone it's a faction of PDP? See, I am a card carrying member of the PDP but I need to be frank with you all. The Igbos need to get their pieces together, they should stop politicizing Biafra, they should seek the support of the right people. APC isn't their problem nor Buhari, Nigeria is and should be seen as such. Igbos need to root for unity within themselves first and abolish the obvious sub ethnic disintegrations that exist between them. Lastly, when Nigeria fought against Biafra years back, it took them years before they could make Biafrans surrender. It wasn't military sophistication that earned them the half-victory, it was technical war tactics not weapons. Cutting off Biafrans food supply was the major factor, so to an extent Abokis could occupy all the millitary positions but it won't stop the disintegration from happening nor would it guarantee them sure victory. Didn't Biafrans produce local weapons during the war?? It can still be done again and again. Peace. 9 Likes |
