No fire fighting engines anywhere. Even the ones available hardly have water, very short hoses, firemen never wear boots or protective gears to fire scenes, shortage of staff, arrival very late to fire scene, etc.

Federal and state government never serious about incidences of fire and danger. Area boys take over fire men's work at the fire scenes.

Several years ago up till 1985 the federal fire department was a very big one. People were eager and happy to work there. Foolishly the military government downplayed it and just like NEPA never let it work. It was a federal civil service job and people got their retirement benefits there too. The civilians too over and never took it's resuscitation seriously. Meanwhile FRSC officers stand on roads to demand your fire extinguisher! The officers do not even have any in their vehicles.

When the fire service is inefficient how then can governments talk about fire control. That was a very big and painful loss to several families. The federal and state governments must wake up to their responsibilities.

If violence persists report to the police. If she cannot, then they may temporarily separate to avoid any tragic occurence.

I think a law should be passed where state governments should use from the security vote given to them to support affected business people when there is a fire outbreak. It will help to get them started again since insurance is not popular in Nigeria.

Rather, we should make insurance popular. It's the best way forward.

i would agree with you but shops at the entrance of this particular market are mere wooden structures on the fence of union bank Ilesa branch, they have no electric wires in those shops, the shops are owned mostly by the ibo guys
