The Emir of Kano, Sanusi Lamido Sanusi ll, on Monday said no leader in Northern Nigeria can afford to be happy with the current situation in the region today. He said nobody should be happy with about 87 percent of poverty in Nigeria being in the north. The emir, who made the remarks while speaking at the 60 birthday of Kaduna State Governor, Nasir El-rufai, said he was not happy with the situations in the region. Emir Sanusi said if the North does not change by tackling some of its social problems, it will destroy itself.

“When we talk about birthday, we talk about happiness. Just last week, someone asked me, are you happy? And I said I am not. And the person was surprised.
Nobody who is a leader in the Northern Nigeria today can afford to be happy. You cannot be happy with about 87 percent of poverty in Nigeria being in the north. “You can’t be happy with millions of Northern children out of school. You can’t be happy with nine states in the North contributing almost 50 percent of the entire malnutrition burden in the country. “You can’t be happy with the drug problem; you can’t be happy with the Boko Haram problem. You can’t be happy with political thuggery. You can’t be happy with all the issues; the Almajiri problem that we have. “We have been saying this for 20 to 30 years. If the North does not change, the North will destroy itself. The country is moving on. Quota system that everybody talks about must have a sunset clause. “So, we wish Nasir a happy birthday, but we do not want him to be happy as a leader. Because you are happy when you think you have reached a state of delivering and taking your people to where you want them to be,” he said.

The emir added that with ‎the condition of Northern Nigeria, it’s almost correct to say that if a governor in the North or a leader in the North are seen as normal in the sense that they continue to do what their predecessors have been doing then, then there is something wrong with them because they are part of the problem. Emir Sanusi noted that the real change in the north will come from those who are considered mad people because when you look around and say if this is the way people have been doing things, and this is where they have ended up, maybe there is the need to do things differently. Also speaking at the event, the ‎Senate President, Ahmed Lawan, said Nigeria is at crossroad. He urged northern leaders to work hard to tackle insecurity in the region.

He added that kidnapping, banditry, assassination and Boko Haram remain major challenges in the region. He commended Governor Nasir El-rufai ‎for all the good work done in the state, describing him as an asset to Nigeria and humanity.

NORTH SHOULD SUPPORT RESTRUCTURING OF OUR PRESENT FEDERALISM AND ALL THIS SECURITY CHALLENGES WILL BE ADDRESSED AT THE REGIONAL LEVEL.

There is too much concentration of political powers in the federal capital, Abuja. And the Presidency in Abuja seems not to know what to do with the political powers. All they do with the huge money they receive is to share some of it as federal allocation to states and the other money end up being use for white elephant projects that has no bearing on the lives of Nigerians.

Powers must be devolved to the states to make them viable to tackle security threat.

As long as the north wait for NIGER DELTA CRUDE OIL MONEY to the neglect of their own area and development they should stop talking with both side of their mouth.

NO OTHER REGIONS HAVE CONSUMED SO MUCH OF OUR TREASURY SAVINGS THAN THE NORTH. BUT YET INSECURITY IS STILL A PROBLEM.

The north should address issues like the following which have been undermining their progress and development.

Child or Teen Marriage.

Lack of Education.

Marrying more than one wife under a socalled Islamic doctrine.

NO POLITICAL LEADERS CAN SOLVE THE PROBLEM OF POVERTY IN THE NORTH EVEN IF CRUDE OIL IS TO BE SOLD FOR $200 PER BARREL EXCEPT IF THE NORTHERNERS THEMSELVES CHANGE THEIR BELIEFS BOTH RELIGIOUS AND OTHERWISE.

Their belief seems to be the principal factor that is setting them down.

You should not be happy! Yes you should not. This is because you are part of the problem. The leaders are the problem. When you were offered Almajiri Schools by the last administration, you embraced it and the world thought you did in sincerity. What has become of it now? You do not believe in family planning, the reason for the uncontrolled birth of children. Your ideology is not entrenched in education, though you have institutions of learning. You desire to make yourself comfortable while you use the "unfortunate" almajiri children during political seasons and when you want to unleash your hidden religious hatred towards your christian brothers in the north.

Infact, you should be happy because the rewards of your heroes and your present leaders in all sectors is what you are now harvesting. Infact, you have just started, the outburst of the consequences of your actions and inactions as it stands now is just a tip of the iceberg.

Brace up for more! The unfortunate thing is that is you are part of Nigeria!

El rufai with his over 80 Harvard university certificates is still thinking like a shallow man and yet he wants to rule Nigeria.

Is it possible for the North to take Rochas and Ngige and give us Sanusi, we will still add 300Million dollars for them.

And what will Sanusi do for you, become Emir of your home town?
Sanusi should run for Kano state governorship election in 2023 that is the only way he can make a change.

There are only 5 people that speaks the truth in d entire north nd they are.
1. Emir Sanusi
2. Bishop Kukah
3. Sheik Gunmi
4. Engr. Buba Galadima

5. Bishop Manza.
Allah ya saka da alkairi [/color]

Those three are always driven by hate. Kukah is even worse, more like an agent of distabilisation and division. I don't know "Bishop Manza", haven't read anything from him to judge him. Sanusi always said the truth but since he's become an emir who controls and spends billions of naira every year, I haven't seen any developmental project or rehabilitation efforts associated with him or his palace. He's no different from the rests of the ruling class, selfish.

That is what he at least make people think. Truth be told, most black people never do what they say. Sanusi is never what he says. Go read about him when he was the CBN governor..

He was so ethnic biased, corrupt, in fact the opposite of what he,says now.

Put him in power, then you will see that black people really have a fault. Zero integrity.

How will the North not be in poverty when even the Emirs and their local gods dress like Masquerades and subject the commons to plural marriages and turn the kids into street beggars legitimized by an Islamic Almajiri System?

The North will continue to be in poverty until they abrogate plural marriage and stop fuccking children.

We see a Senator parading 4 wives and 27 children and saying he is still counting, and when he drops dead in the Parliament (as they always die), the whole children become Okada, Almajiri, Shoe shiners, gatemen and the connected ones become dollar changers. Some sell Suya for a lifetime.

The People can sleep under a mango tree for years without making efforts to acquire skills. They love lazy jobs like shining shoes or cutting nails with ancient razor blades. They hate innovation.

But they can kill because of a Cow.

They people do not like Skills like the Igbos, they do not like Industries like the Yorubas, they have no means of fishing like the Ijaws, and truthfully they can not be hired as house maids like the Ogojas because they are just lazy mentally and physically but their strength is in numbers, because their glorified talent is to reproduce like humanoid viruses.

As a hive-mind virus, they will become lethal and destroy Nigeria as we know it IF the Government does not force them into skill acquisitions and Education.

Anyway, what do I know. I am just a pretty face.

On one hand it is a good thing that Buhari became Nigerian President, else we would have been hearing things like 'Had Buhari been President, all Nigerian problems would have vanished". Arguments on how Buhari Presidency will be one of the worst in our country history I had with people in 2015 remains fresh in my memory. All some of us saw are becoming real. Buhari is a perennial failure. Give him USA, he will impoverish it and blame everyone else but himself. A deluded man lost in his own world.

HOPE YOU KNOW THAT YOU ARE PART OF THE NORTHERN PROBLEM
THAT EMIR AGAIN:
Here comes a man whose only franchise is the circumstance of his birth.
Who from cradle has been catered for by the commonwealth.
Giving us reasons for poverty.
What does he know about poverty?

There are polygamous families in Kwara, Ekiti, Osun, Ogun, Lagos, Benue, Kaduna, Plateau, Taraba, etc.
Why are they not having almajiri children?

Tell that loquacious man that the presence of idle blood suckers like him gave rise to that societal aberration.
Emir Sanusi, his friends and their lifestyle is what is responsible for poverty in the north.
Their greed and corruption is responsible for northern poverty.

Those idle machines they acquire at the cost of the commonwealth, if converted to a factory can ease poverty.
Emir Sanusi rides a N400m phantom.
That can open 40 cottage industry of N10m each employing 15 people directly and countless down chain of beneficiaries.
From one car alone, that he seldom use, 150 people can be lifted out of poverty.
He has more than 5 others cars of similar value.

He want to pontificate and pose as a messiah and helper to the poor.
To do that, is not a TV project.
Emir of Bauchi has 3000 of such almajiri he is schooling and taking care of.
He has never come on TV to abuse people.

We are not by this encouraging irresponsible marriages and births.
But castigating such culture should not come from anyone who eats from it.
Sanusi should resign as a custodian of culture then he can be a voice against it.
His meal is secured strictly because of those almajiri.
You want to reform the culture you swore to uphold?
Stop confusing the thunder abeg.

Have you northerners removed that verse .?

Even assuming what you say is the gospel truth, so what? How does it falsify anything he’s said here? Would Sanusi’s words be any less true even if he were worse than Sani Abacha and Umaru Dikko combined? What exactly do you think you’re achieving by dragging in such irrelevancies, other than to demonstrate that poor education and lack of critical thinking skills are problems plaguing every part of Nigeria, which is why people like yourself are so quick to add their non sequiturs to topics like this?

Nigeria can only work when Justice, Equality and Fairness is enthroned. How do we enthrone Justice, Equality and Fairness when some section of the country is feeding fat on Injustice, Inequality and unfairness? When a Boko-Haram captive is been feted in government house when prisoners are cramped in small cells. When the police can not arrest an aboki that commits crime, but can arrest an oba and make him seat on the ground. How can it be great when we have corrupt people like you who support Injustice, Inequality and unfairness?

The truth is that the entire NIgeria is in mess. You need to see the number of unemployed. In the the so called south.

It goes without saying that if the north had put effort in human development, like the south did, Nigeria would have been much better.

Over 90% of NIgeria wealth is generated in the south. Yet is is shared across the board equally. The free money had made people lazy.

If Nigeria was operating a system where people use their wealth for themselves and pay tax to the centre, some regions in this country would have been a wasteland. Because I will not use my money to build your rail, road, schools, hospital etc.

I am a graduate. I am working. Yet I Know I am not financially bouyant enough to father a child. A farmer that makes less than 1 million naira a year will be having 80 children. 6 wives. A massive reorientation is required.

Which equally?

The north always gets the lion share

They should stop their men from marrying more than one wives especially the poor ones
The women must be on birth control
Else the North will become worse than it's now.
