CHINA AND NIGERIA BUSINESS
With the outbreak of Corona virus, many Nigerian business men who depended solely on China for their goods and services have been left to wait and watch for what seems to be a "wishful watch".
Before the advent of China goods, Nigerians have been producing most of their goods, although a bit more expensive than that of their Chinese counterparts, but almost same in quality.
Because an average Nigerian live below "one dollar per day" we had to settle for the China products because they are pocket friendly.
What do we do now with the increasing spread of Corona virus and its increasing mortality and morbity, do we fold our hands and wait without doing anything to help ourselves.
Most persons will say we actually don't need China products to survive but most of the products we use in Nigeria ranging from food, drugs, clothes, shoes, household appliances, plates and cutlery other articles like umbrellas and plastics and even toothpicks are all imported from China. So you see, it will affect you in one way or another other.
Nigerian government have not yet provided an enabling environment for businesses to thrive in the country, with the non availability of business loan, insecurity, unnecessary taxes, lack of basic amenities etc. A country with the above problems cannot be successful in terms of business.
It's about time we go back to the drawing board, let's fix our country, let the government support its citizens especially those involved in " Small and Medium scale Enterprise - encourage others who have mega businesses by making loans available and providing other basic amnities that will help us to be great again. As individuals, let us also do our bit. If the citizens are law abiding, not involving in killing, arm robbery or kidnapping we will have a lot of investors who can partner with Nigerians to establish mega companies here. Let the change begin with you, together we can take Nigeria to its formal glory where we can rightfully claim that we are indeed the giant of Africa.
