Renerd: You can’t blame them, it’s our unstable government policies. Talking from experience here, our government can wake up one day and bring a policy that will kill your business at once, leaving you with no option that to find a way and run out of the country. Example is this recent Gokada and all this motorcycle crisis in Lagos. 1 Like |

hammerU: Ask them. I don't know if that is the case. Nigeria is full of tribalism. Deal with those issues too. Africa's primary problem is Nigeria. Until Nigeria stops putting ethnicity and religion before everything else, the likes of Buhari will hold away and cause disaffection that leads to actions like this. |

ARE GHANIANS NOT TRADING FREELY IN ALL ECOWAS COUNTRIES INCLUDING NIGERIA? WELL, NIGERIA DONT HAVE TIME AND GHANA IS TOO SMALL TO BE DISTURBING OUR PEACE. GHANA SMALL RETAIL SECTOR DOES NOTHING FOR NIGERIA ECONOMY AND AN UNWANTED BOTHER. LOCK 600 SHOPS AND LET US LOCK OUR BORDERS. You will not know that you a nigerian until you cross to ghana. To be honest I have never seen a country that hate nigerians like Ghanaians and some of our prostitute girls are not helping matters too.. My advice if you can't travel to Asia, America or Europe. Just stay in nigeria. 1 Like |

That's not true. It favours other west african countries more, i.e incoming goods much more higher than the outgoings. We are losing too much funds to smugglings daily. But our system is also bad. PHijo: |

These traders of Nigerian descent have not come to grips with Ghanaian's form of xenophobia. It seeks to depose that of South Africa. Who cares about the integration of West Africa anyway? These small states leverage on Nigeria's economic clout. The traders should leave Ghana and go elsewhere. Or, as a last resort, come back home. Our borders should remain shot.If we can throw our weight around like a giant, then we should pull the plug on our continued existence in ECOWAS and AU. |

Louisananda7: Ghana and Nigeria are not the same. Nigerians should stop pandering to this Ghana trick that is all about depriving Nigeria of Tourist. Ghana is same as Ivory Coast. Nigeria is a unique country. |
Re: Nigerian Traders In Ghana Turn Beggars Over Locked Up Shops – NUTAG by Litmus: 7:05pm On Feb 26, 2020 |
Ghana is terrified of Nigeria since they know just how dynamic, interesting, varied and culturaly complex Nigeria is. Nigeria is just the perfect Nation in West Africa for foreign visitors. In addition, Nigeria has oil. It is as if the existence of Nigeria is unfair to the other Nations of West Africa. You name it, Nigeria has it. Ghana people fight hard to demonise Nigeria online on one hand and also attach themselves to Nigeria on the other hand all in a desperate attempt to scare people from Nigeria and at the same time provide visitors to Ghana the things that might interest them about Nigeria in Ghana, hence their theft of everything Nigeria. So stupid Nigerians stop playing along with all the Crappy we and Ghana are same crap! WAKE UP! 1 Like |

Ausrichie: Add the fact of shehu shagaris Ghana must go in 1983 to the mix - about 37 years ago. A man of 20 then is 57 now and that's about the age range of the politicians. laws like this shouldn't be a shock. Wonder why we can't have laws similar. Bans on generators Jail terms with farm work/trade craft something in the line of sewing uniforms/raising chickens/capentry for public schools. Tax on more than 2-3 cars. CDA involvement in security issues. Compulsory farming on vacant lands. Public knowledge of contracts awarded. Use of cams by law enforcement agents. The list is endless, but one I'd like to see is real journalism in Nigeria, maybe scraping of hrms' from companies - since its all contract workers this days. Wonder what a decade from now has in store for us. 1 Like 1 Share |

I just don't understand; if they are backed by the ECOWAS protocol then why are they resorting to begging when they can easily resolve the matter in court - or is it only in Nigeria that they know the road to court? |

hammerU:Your consession is very good! Let borders remain closed and let locked shops remain locked. But I think if the shop owners obey simple rules in their host country these thread would not have been necessary. BTW, there are hundreds of Nigerians still doing retail business against the rules here and it's not hitting FP...you take a trip to Accra and see for yourself...it's also very important to have first hand information before we raise voices. |

jaszplus12: WAT RULE DO U WANT DEM TO OBEY? THE RULE IS FREE MOVEMENT OF PEOPLE, GOODS AND TRADE AMONGST WEST AFRICANS. THIS IS WAT GHANAIANS ENJOY HERE AND ACROSS ECOWAS. ALL ECOWAS MARKET IS OPEN TO GHANAIANS AS MUCH AS THE NATIVES IN THE COUNTRY, AS IS THE CASE HERE IN NIGERIA WHERE U FIND PEOPLE FROM ALL OVER AFRICA, INDIA, CHINESE AND LEBANESE TRADING FREELY. OBVIOUSLY THE CHINESE, INDIA AND LEBANESE ARE FOREIGNERS BUT ECOWAS CITIZENS ARE PLACED IN SAME CATEGORY AS NIGERIANS. IS IT WEN THEY START MARRYING YOUR WOMEN FOR PAPERS THAT U WILL LEAVE THEM TO TRADE IN PEACE? Y IS GHANA SO DIFFICULT ABOUT EVERYTHING? |
Re: Nigerian Traders In Ghana Turn Beggars Over Locked Up Shops – NUTAG by jaszplus12(m): 9:04pm On Feb 26, 2020 |
hammerU:My brother...do you think Nigerians are not free to move around here?? How many have passport or resident permit? But that's not the bone of contention o... There are laid down rules and it's expected that everyone concerned should obey it. If nigeria feels she doesn't need such laws no one is against that either... Again FYI, many Nigerians are married to Ghanaian women and this has been the norm for up to 80 years that I can tell so no issues on that. See, let the traders tell the Ghana Union who by government approval laid down those laws that they should repeal it and if the GUTA feels so obliged they can do so! Before then....laws remain laws and any violation will be taken seriously. |
