Reminder that Tinubu single handedly installed this Akanbi. The man Tinubu has a reverse midas touch. Anything that bears Tinubu's influence is corrupt. The man is the true meaning of Canker worm. |

salford: Well, if kings are still relevant or not depends on those in their domains. You can only really judge the one in your ancestral place, Actually not everywhere it is based on money. Many remain by male primogeniture. From birth as first born son. So no kingmakers, just king crowners upon ascension. Since no human has any power to depose. If govt even tries to depose or depose for political reasons, no other person will ever take the throne until the kings passes on. Look around enough and see places where primogeniture is practised. I have long argued that primogeniture is the best as the prince is raised from birth for the role. But some say rotation is better. With the high level of corruption in Nigeria, it's most likely that the rich and influential princes will be selected over the average ones. Irrespective of character, temperament or preparedness for the role. A former Nigerian general, police boss, politician, university professor, businessman, customs boss, NNPC boss, top bankers and all those who cut their teeth in the most corrupt sections of Nigerian system end up as kings in recent decades. Not a coincidence that they are almost always the richest among the princes who contest for the throne. Whenever something becomes a competition to be decided by umpires working in secrecy , politics and corruption can't be faraway. Like deciding who to host Olympic Games, FIFA World Cup, etc. Even worse in Nigeria. |
