Highesschief1: It breaks my heart when I see young bloods settle for so little! What is 20k or even 40k in this difficult country.. You are even asking for advice on which to settle! You even have a 2:1....must you collect salary? Them take salary swear for you? This is my advice... Send that certificate to your mum to keep in her box for you then go and learn a trade, hand work or any craftsmanship.. Go and do boyi-boyi for some igbo folks even if the agreement does not involve settlement at least they will support you with goods on credit and they will teach u. Dedicated two years of your life to what I have said and you will definitely be better off than taking that slave salary job that might leave you frustrated for years.
If you are an undergraduate reading this, please start learning something, acquire a new skill, meet traders and show interest, they will teach you also put that data to proper use by researching the internet, material for any thing on this planet can be found there.. Toby122: Hello, Nairalanders, I am 27 years of age and just passed out from service October last year, with a 2.1 degree cert in Geo/Envi Mgt.
My PPA retained me with a pay of 20k just this January they added 5k to my salary.
On Friday I got a call from my pastor about a security job in first bank. To cut the long story short, I was given an appointment with a salary of 40k, and now I am so confused. I have plans to further my education by September this year and am not really comfortable with leaving my current job... See with first bank security job you have more to it than that 25k. You have opportunity meeting pple and also its now permanently day work shifting and also a day off. Secondly during exam period u can request for permanent night. Owo ni koko Pls I want your take on this.... |

Its not everyone that knows how to run Business bro what he’s trying to say is that after the masters, what’s the probability that he wud get a better job that would worth his certification people just feel you doing your masters you are so much entitled to a good job. Yes it’s meant to be so but Nigeria might make you end up regretting why you furthered your education. Well as for me, the only thing that wud make me do my masters is when i have a good job that requires me furthering my education in other for me to be promoted at work or something.. I know a master holder that collects that 25k as his salary as a teacher so you see, master doesn’t really change anything in 9ja. Even people with OND have higher chances of getting better jobs than BSC holders . |

deepwater: This is the sole aim of N-POWER JUST TO BREAK YOU! Nothing more, nothing less The APC led government have successfully made young graduates feel they do not deserve more than NGN 30,000 per month. Buhari pikin they use NAF1 go snap picture, the other one buy okada 50 million! Them swear for una?!
how could we fall this low?! a fresh 2.1 university graduate is in consideration of a mai guard work or a teaching job of less than a thousand naira per day! wetin people wey no go school go come dey do?!
OP you have no fault here at all except u voted for this government. this people are wicked, they have destroyed our economy so bad that a graduate has no worth!
these are my points to u: 1. You like to teach 2. Forget Master now 3. Look for small money and buy 2 desktop computers, 1 printer (color/b/w), copier, scanner and digital camera with printing aid 4. open a container shop in your school business center area 5. start there and do those things other are doing 6. when it starts moving fine (yes, it will) get a shop assistant to support you (congratulations, u are now a salary payer) 7. after a while, remember point no. 1 and open up a tutorial center for Jambites. 8. u can get intakes from those coming to your shop to register for jamb and other exams 9. expand your tutorial center to cover other scopes -home tutors / IELTS / mature students class etc etc. 10. when the business start running good, you will have money and when you have money you will decide on your own if to pursue master/further education or more money........nobody would advice you on this!
I think 99% of Nigerians chase further education for sake of good prospect to get a better salary / job than what they have and not for the knowledge itself. The remain 1% do it because someone else is paying the bill.
When you are comfortable in Nigeria, if person dey talk masters you go just shift comot.....
wetin you wan use masters do? To excel on most job out there u need a tailored short course of maybe 10 days at most to be good at your capacity. what do i even know self
his age was actually his opening sentence! na so una dey take fail exam, come begin find which school go accept pass for masters.....
please dont recommend any godam Professional courses, he is not a professional so he needs no professional courses you type misled a lot 20 years ago! i recall the HSE level 1,2,3 and Nebosh craze in Nigeria! everybody that year was HSE qualified in paper and felt entitled to oil and gas job that was the greatest MMM scam of that decade they collect your money, give a paper and move on!
you have to be a professional first before taking those professional courses, else how could you hold a certificate in arc welding or underwater welding and u have never held a welding touch!
go figure out y most people fail ICAN, they have never worked real life accounting before...the exceptions are those with a different brain (yes, we are not all equal
You were making sense until you got to the emboldened I did HSE when I was a corps member With those certificates, I was able to work for two different oil firms as safety supervisor and then safety instructor. My point is, that it didn't work for does not mean it won't work for someone else As a fresh graduate with no work experience, professional courses help Stop deceiving people because it didn't work for you PS: I have a degree in Information Technology 3 Likes |

Lot of advises av been offered, nd without any form of sentiment, evri contributor has a gud say as per dia point of view. But mind u, d most easiest tin 2 give odaz is advise, u know why? because it's free. D funny part of it is even dat, people will advise u on smtin dey wudn't be able 2 follow or will av 2 tink twice b4 doin shud dey found demsef in ur shoe. Lot of tinz r beta said dan done. Also, wat work 4 Mr. A myt not work 4 Mr. B, we r ol uniquely different in nature.
My own tk, I don't tink u need advise as u already solve d puzzle urself via ur post. U said it while u r abt droppin d pen dat, 'U don't feel comfortable leaving ur present job (teaching)', dat is a bold answer already.
Do wat u are comfortable doing (teaching) as per d options u got at d moment, thou d pay is not much, but it will go along way in enhancing ur goal of furtherin ur education. Just as sm1 earlier suggested, u can add private tutorial classes (lesson) 2 it which will serve as additional source of income 4 u, nd if u cud do well, who knows? d opportunity of getin 2 meet people dat myt help u as sm suggested u cud get shud u go 4 d security job is still smtin attainable via d private tutor as dia r chances u receive favor 4rm God 2hru d parent of dose children u wud be coaching.
Secondly, since u av d focus nd plan 2 further ur edu, don't be discourage abt d unemployment rate in d country, sm people av PhD nd still don't av a job doesn't mean same wud hapun 2 u cos we ol av different grace nd mercy wen it komz 2 receiving favor. Teachin will speedup ur goal nd mk ur brain active, not security job. 2 Likes |

The Security job is not for you if you have plans to further your education. At this stage of your life you only need a job that allows you to explore better alternatives. yomi007k: Cost Analysis.
If you plan to further your education , how much will that cost?
How much will u spend on the teaching job and how much can you save. Compare that with the banking job?
....Its not how much you earn but what you can do with it.
Other factors that should be taken into consideration include ; job security, security of life, flexibility/ peace, connections, prospects e.t.c. That pastor no like you at all. |
