See how you are talking "US can do and kukuma give us our money" which money, the money dey reach your hand?

theakuko:
So in other words...

The Goodluck led administration wrongly instructed the US to freeze the assets of Bagadu which was in violation of his earlier agreement with the Obasanjo led administration that his company assets remain untouched.

Now, in a bid to clean up the mess of the pervious administration, the Buhari led administration now intends to use part of the funds to be repartriated in compensating Bagadu. Problem is, the US is unwilling to comply with that sort of arrangement. It's either you collect the whole money and use all of it for the benefit of Nigerians or you forget it. That's where the problem is (I think).

Maybe Bagadu was too hasty in entering into that agreement with the Buhari led federal government. Maybe the federal government should find some other way to compensate him for his loss asides this money. That should be the best option so that the US can do and kukuma give us our money.

Both within and outside the country no body has faith in this Buhari govt. The other time the U.S returned about $315m to Nigeria, Buhari told us he has shared the money to the 'faceless' poorest of the poor.

The same govt going about soliciting for loans, increasing taxes with still nothing to show.

If this money is eventually given to Buhari, we shouldn't be surprise to hear Boko Haram are now using military helicopters to fight Nigerian army. Trump should just hold on to that money till New regime emerge after 3yrs.

The this is our fellow nigerian citizens have been taken for a ride for so long that its so easy to play and manipulate them with fiction, no matter how absurd. Coupled with the current economic woes america is facing and the looming US elections, its clear to see that US has absolutely no intention of returning that money

If Nigeria is serious, they would have prevented the money from leaving her shores in the first place. Which money? The one that Buhari said that Abacha did not loot in the first place. Finder's keeper.

During the days of Late Gen Sanni Abacha, his Looter-in-chief Alhaji Atiku Abubakar Bagudu connived with Mr Ismaila Gwazo the then National security advicer to Abacha government and Mohammed Abacha and Mohammed Sada who was Abacha's son best friend to syphoned that money through a fake floated company in U.S. With the support of Zakari Biu, Col Frank Omenka and Maj Al-Mustapha, the looting of the highest order in the history of Nigeria was committed.

Today Atiku Bagudu is a Governor of Kebbi state. He's sitting fat to receive this stolen fund and he also got support from the Government of Muhammadu Buhari but the American who are wiser blocked this transaction.

I hail the American for this. Say no to corruption.

Why? Them chop 30 year interest and usage of the money. If the west was truly wanting to stop the use of their systems for corruption they could . Just stop members of african govts and their families of importing money, owning property or running a business out of their country during rhe president's tenor. Do you know how much have died with swiss accounts? The stolen loot onlt goes to further enrich those countries who subjugated us. And african govts should reduce penality for monies stolen but left in the country. Monies taken out should be subjected to harsher punishment and you are offered no immunity and are auto extradited if requested by a foreign govt. See diezani. She run go now she is begging to come back. Uk laws and yansh opening don pass am. And now nigeria is on the brink of requesting her to join the case in nigeria. No. Let her stay where she ran.

Buhari and Malumi have no moral right to demand the return of the money. They campaigned for Bagudu in Kebbi and Buhari said Abacha never stole.

Yes... List tangible projects and to be implemented with the looted funds!

Better still, USA should still hold on to the funds for now till we have a clear direction.

It amazes me that most readers have such a narrow focus or that they continue to see development in APC vs PDP terms. The real reason the US Government stepped in is to slow the Chinese advance in Africa. Most of the projects described apart from the 2nd Niger bridge are managed by Chinese countries. Any fool should know that China and the US are engaged in a power tussle and that the fight has come to Nigeria's front door. If the Federal Government should re-award any of these contracts to GE, you will be shocked at the speed at which the money will arrive on Nigeria's doorsteps. Let us try to read widely. Its the only way of escaping internet illiteracy.

The USA can't be the voice of the voiceless in Nigeria. Uncle Sam only cares about himself. Little Donny is only concerned about making America great again. The earlier you know that, the better.

By returning the funds it shows that America is ten times better than Nigerian leaders.

Would Nigerian leaders return the funds if it were the other way round?

So called "Ab acha loot" a mere 0.3 bn dollars is being used to disturb us almost daily.

Abacha died 22years ago and to return a small fraction of $1bn is proving to be rocket science.

If the process is confusing, then remember that "where truth is absent, confusion persists".

Yes indeed the concept of "Abacha Loot" is lacking truth - hence the confusion.

We all know it takes more lies to cover a lie.

Do not be surprised that in 2040, we would be still talking of international agreements to return this so called Abacha loot, that is only $300m
