“The bulk of the workforce is still in China. The government of China did not allow them to return and that has delayed the work on Lagos Ibadan.”
The minister also explained that the government was still test-running the rail tracks.
So if the Chinese Govt allowed them, you for let them enter our country? to come spread that virus atik? Clap for yourself.

furthermore, tell us which project has been completed on time in this country?

Sir they are already doing that, It's part of the deal for giving the Chinese company the contract, that in return they would train Nigerians to be engineers in rail line technology.

FrLukas:

No I don't.

But I also know the Chinese who are coming to fix our rails for us weren't born with the knowledge.

They learnt it from others and mastered it.

Is it too much for the FG to send engineers to go learn this technique or technology for the nation's use?

We have engineers in Nigeria.

We have many universities that churn out engineers yearly.

We have many professors of engineering.

But let's wait for the Chinese stuck in China before our rail project can be finished.

Yea yea I know, they are financing it, blah blah blah...warever...

They said RAILWAY, NOT ROAD. IT is the Chinese that are doing the construction and these outbreak went viral before they could return from the Chinese NEW YEAR.

The Chinese new year is widely celebrated by Chinese all over the world as they usually go back home during that period.

Now this could be good news if indeed it is true.

You see, I have learnt to be skeptical about good news coming out of Nigeria.

That way, Nigeria won't keep breaking my heart.

Let's hope they won't allocate the scholarship slots to their family members, but to those who truly deserve it.

Good point made, but i would like to ask this simple question, do you know of any Nigerian professor who is Knowledgeable in rail technology or is there any current Nigerian universities where rail building is being taught to Nigerian engineers ?

How was the rail built by the colonialists built?
Or do you think it was whites that built those rails?
If you have the parts, assembling is not such a difficult thing.
Forget all those excuses. The Chinese are working at their pace and will finish the project when they intend to.
All those jumping and down by Amaechi is pure optics.

For example the Abj-Kaduna rail was about 85% completed when APC came in 2015, but did you see GEJ's transport minister jumping up and down and giving useless deadlines? No!! That's because the Chinese handling the project will finish it when they intend to. Afterall, they are providing 80% of the financing.

Exactly what we have been yearning for...promote local content, revive our steel industry, sponsored training for local engineers, improvement of our education system, scholarship for the best science students and engineering graduates respectively to study abroad with an agreement to promote development after their training. A country with 150 million population with lot of unemployed citizens still relies on chinese workforce for result...who has bewitched us?

Sorry bro, I really don't think much of the shows he's putting up.
All his deadlines are only for the TV. It doesn't move a needle with the Chinese. They are the ones providing 80% of the finance and all the other things like manpower, technology etc. So they are working at their own pace and will complete it when they want to.
All of the noise Amaechi has been making about deadline which of them has ever been met and what has been the penalty for not meeting the deadline?

Forget bro. Amaechi is just being visible. His input to the whole thing is not worth the noise he's making

Funny enough APC supporters will never want to agree that rail construction and refurbishment was already underway before Buhari came in 2015 as if we were not all in NIgeria then.

Very sad

Coronavirus is now being used as a reason for the delay in project completion.

You contradicted yourself, The rail lines built during the colonial era was built by both the black and whites, But the technical know how, drawing of the plans, the supervision of the project was done by the whites, Just the same way the Chinese are supervising the current construction of the rail road tracks.

That is what happens when you are overly dependent on everything foreign.

With the large population we have in Nigeria, yet we can't upskill and deliver. Do the chinese have 2 heads? Useless leaders. Mschew.

The Chinese also started somewhere. They didn't wake up one day and then started building railway. What happened to Ajaokuta and other steel plants? Can you imagine the level of skills Nigerians would have acquired if it was allowed to see the light of the day?
There's a process to industrialization, you can't just start building railways when you can't make a bicycle from scratch.

Lies!! Go and be a good student of history. The number of whites who did the rail project was less than 10% of the total workforce. And all the rail was completed in less than 10years. Go and check your history.

The Chinese are involved in every aspect of this rail even up to digging foundations. Rumour has it that some of them working on the rails are actually prisoners in China. They have their own time table which they are using and nothing Amaechi does or says is going to make them change that. Think about it. Do you really think the Chinese cannot complete Lagos to Kano rail in two years? They won't because they are the ones funding this particular one and implementing it as well. So its more or less benevolence on their side. Go and look at the same Chinese in the telecoms sector. Go and see how fast they meet deadlines. That's because they have a lot of competition there and a lot to lose if they fail to meet deadlines.

Rail is a very old technology 19th century to be precise. So, it's a massive failure on our part that at this time, we are still waiting for a Chinese holiday to end before we can complete a rail.
