Abu Umamah Al-Bahili (ra) narrated that a man came to Rasulullah :saw: and asked :
“What is the reward for a person who [B]fought in the path of Allah[/B], [B]seeking fame[/B] and [B]compensation[/B]?”
The Prophet :saw: said : [B]“There is no reward for him.”[/B]
The man repeated the question three times to Rasulullah:saw: .
Nabi :saw: replied : [B]“There is no reward for him.”[/B], and then
said : “Allah accepts those deeds which were performed [B]purely for His Sake[/B] and which were meant to seek His Pleasure.”

Rasulullah (saw) said:
"Do not attain learning in order to express pride before the ulema (scholars),
nor [/b]by its help[b] quarrel with foolish people,
nor through it try to overwhelm meetings,
but he who does so, his destination is fire."

May Allah save us from Riyaaa

Abu Hurayra 'Abdu'r-Rahman ibn Sakhr said that the Messenger of Allah (saw) said,
"Allah does not look at your bodies nor your forms but He looks at your hearts and your actions."

It is narrated that, Allaah's Messenger (saw) addressed us one day and said,
"O People! Fear this shirk as it is more hidden than a crawling ant."
Then someone whom Allaah had willed to speak said:
"And how shall we save ourselves from it when it is more hidden than a crawling ant, O Messenger of Allaah?".
He(saw) said, "Say
[size=14pt]"Allahumma inni a'udhu bika an ushrika bika
wa ana a'lamu wa astaghfiruka lima la a'lamu"[/size]
[O Allah I seek refuge in You from knowingly associating partners with You, and I seek Your forgiveness for that which I do not know].

It is reported from Ibn Mas'ood (ra) that he said:

"Do not learn knowledge for three (things):
1.To amaze and confound the foolish,
2.to argue with the learned and
3.to make peoples faces turn towards you.

(But) seek what is with Allah with your hearts and actions, since only that will remain and whatever is besides it will go."

“Riya means to perform worship with any intention other than the pleasure of Allah Almighty. That’s with the intention of informing others about it to gain something, to be praised, to be considered pious or treated with respect.
