Not just NASA, there are numerous agencies saddled with this task. It cannot go unnoticed.

NASA can't monitor everywhere, every angle of the earth...

Trace elements or pieces of the meteoroid will have still been found na.
you are right Sha. They need to explore that site further and stop turning us into theoretical geologists. There should be concrete proof or it's just a theory

Dunno what the professor is saying but the people escorting the truck containing explosives have said their truck developed fault and exploded. That's what first hand eye witnesses have said. The only thing u can tell me is that the meteor hit the truck.. or that it made their truck disappear.

Those experts are bunch of fools. Must you lie in the detriment of peoples life because you were giving a bribe.

My prayer is that this kind of evil will befall you and your family and the blood of innocent people will not allow you all to rest.

Not with the amount of bombs the Truck was carrying.

Just go to youtube and watch examples.

The parts left would have traveled very far in the blast scattered.

Including the engine block?

Prof might be correct but the police that claimed responsibility should be called to explain. Who drove the said vehicle? How many people were therein? Did the driver die?

You can imagine the kind of country we're living in. The impact I saw on the picture should make one to believe the prof.

The prof is right. Did you notice they didn't name any quarry company?

I was wondering if a bomb explosion could cause a crater as wide and deep as that.

If it’s a METEOR it should be VISIBLE

1. A vehicle moved from the airport -fact
2. The vehicle was carrying explosive -fact
3. The vehicle carrying explosive broke down - fact
4. The content of the vehicle exploded - fact

I believe Prof. for one reason only, I smell weapons smuggling. The best way to be unaccountable for explosives is to say they exploded. Smh

This is how people mislead others: flaunt big titles but nothing of substance. Predictably, the gullible ones are dashing you likes.

He has made his case. It isn't good enough to say you disagree; any clown can do that. Provide your rationale for disagreeing with him. Then, we can determine if indeed you are a geologist, or a "geologist".

As a geologist, what do you know about geophysics?

You skipped the part where he stated that insitu reading of ground water was taken, while other samples taken to the lab for analysis.

Nope. Meteorites disintegrate on impact.

It looked like a meteorite strike to me at first glance, but I chilled when the police and the freaking governor said explosives were involved. Well, The prof must have some balls for sticking with his meteorite story even after the governor sided with the explosives story. This should be interesting.

A meteor? And yet no one could see the speck of light it most likely will have generated on its entry into the Earth's atmosphere?

Nah! It can't be a meteor.
I lived in Akure, there was lightning in the sky before we heard the sound of an explosion.

Could have been the initial explosion as the meteorite ignited on entering the atmosphere...just thinking o, no attachment to any particular theory.

Oga Professor, I disagree vehemently!!!

I am a Mining Engineer by study and by profession by God's Grace. I can categorically confirm that commercial explosives were being conveyed from an explosive company in the South west to a quarry in the South south. EOD (Explosive Ordnance Disposal) officers of the Nigeria Police were escorting the said explosives. The explosives detonated because the truck went in flames, according to report. Whether that cause is true or not is another case entirely. The one true fact is that "EXPLOSIVES IN A TRUCK DETONATED". The impact of the explosion is what you saw, while some witnessed ground vibration, air blast and noise.

For those that want to believe Mr Professor, try to check online videos of blasting done in quarries to know what explosives can do to rocks.

Check this video to understand the power of explosives.

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=NkxKX8Z6vhY

In addition, some people said it was a bomb. Bomb explosives are different from commercial explosives. You would notice that there was no trace of fire or burn on and around the location.
Watch the video you embed and study the Akure explosion site, there's no fire or burnt surfaces on-site, I was at the location yesterday, it's clearly not a bomb neither is it any truck explosive. There's something that might be important but we're not taking serious at the site, a path was created that led out of the crater
Re: Adepelumi Adekunle: Akure ‘Explosion’ Was Impact From Meteors Not Explosives by AbujaBlue: 9:45pm On Mar 29, 2020
What is this nonsense? Meteorites almost always burn up as soon as they reach the earth's atmosphere. If they don't then it would be a hell of a bigger impact than that. What does he take us for?
