Mmuoojukwu:
How possible is Igbo presidency in 2023? The bitter truth is that Buhari cannot give or even nominate an Igboman for president in 2023 or 2040 or anytime. The Igbos banking on Buhari are just confused or deluded. Who will he even nominate? On what ground will he nominate him? If Buhari cannot even trust an Igbo man as a member of the service chiefs, is it the presidency he will support? The same thing happened to Obasanjo who has shown more love to the Igbos than any other leader from the north or west. What stopped Obasanjo from picking an Igbo man as a president or vice? What was Obasanjo's fear? Can we turn that fear into our strength? Why was Obasanjo eager to go to go North and South-south?

Again, even a kid will tell you that election in Nigeria is a charade. Who becomes a president in Nigeria is incumbent on the stake his people take or the choice of the ruling party. So there's nothing like free and fair election in Nigeria. Going by the aforementioned indices, it's obvious Igbos are not ready for presidency. And with the way Nigeria is configured today, no tribe can win presidential election through free and fair election which Igbos pin their hope. Tinubu, Osibanjo or any northerner has a better chance of becoming a Nigerian president in 2023 than the Igbos.

Luckily, Igbos have the strongest stake in Nigeria but they're not using it to their political advantage. The north and the West seem to know how to deceive and derail the Igbos. Ohaneze is no doubt the most naive sociocultural group in Nigeria. The northern elders and politicians have never disowned their youths no matter the step they take to restore the glory of the north but Ohaneze and Igbo politicians appear to be a bunch of saboteurs ready to sacrifice their children to be called good Nigerians. Every Igbo politician is fighting for self-glory. Igbo is the only tribe others can easily read its mind. Take it or leave, Tinubu, Osibanjo etc have control over Afenifere and may use it sometimes against the Igbos. Over the years we have seen Afenifere come with a topic like: "Afenifere Hails Ohaneze for Disowning IPOB, Nnamdi Kanu on Secession of Igbos," and quite recently we heard: "Afenifere Backs Nnamdi Kanu on Biafra" etc. This is the politics of the West. Two statements, dangerously opposite from Afenifere. How many times has even Ohaneze mustered courage to say they support Nnamdi Kanu and how does Afenifere support IPOB or Kanu for Christ sake? Funningly enough, when Igbos youths really stand up for Biafra, they will keep mute but during election periods they will make Biafra agitation louder on Newspaper and social media than electoral campaigns. While creating this chaos in Igboland, they are supporting their own: Tinubu, Osibanjo etc. They have seen Biafra as a stumbling block to Igbo presidency and use it as a political tool. Also, the Igbos are always happy when the Yorubas reunite with their brothers in Kwara, Kogi or elsewhere but no Yoruba man goes to sleep the day Igbos and their brothers in the newfangled south-south have a one minute dinner together. The effort seemed to be directed at permanently dividing brothers and making Igbo irrelevant.

As for the north, the use of Federal might and top Igbo traditional chiefs is a common tradition. They divide Igbo land with appointments and juicy political positions. An Igbo man loyal to a top northerner mostly does the job of a saboteur telling his northern boss who does or says what about Biafra or secession. Some Igbos are mere spin doctors hired to write against their people. When you see a top northern chief or politician in Igbo land, just know he is on a "mission." All this leaves Igbo land badly divided and contribute to why Igbo presidency is a mirage.

The big question is how did the north regain power from Goodluck? Why did Obasanjo pick Goodluck? Clearly, Igbo is the most feared tribe because of the undying quest for Biafra. The sit-at-home order which many people complied with has made the northerners leery of any Igbo person. Another bigger fear is that other tribes will not stay in Nigeria once Igbos exit. This makes Biafra the northerners' bugbear. We saw how restive the north turned when Goodluck added Igbo names and made an Igbo man an army chief. Goodluck being successfully tagged "Nyamiri," the north was unease. Nigeria boiled to the top. The north deployed every means, I mean every means until Goodluck surrendered, saying his ambition is not worth the blood of any Nigerian. Also, the collective agitation by the South-south created serious attention and Obasanjo was compelled to give them a chance.

What then are the Igbos going to do?

Politics is a game. The higher, the tougher. It's not for weak-willed persons or divided people. Igbos should make up their minds to play it or accept their fate. Life is a risk and if you don't risk anything, you won't gain anything, you won't be Nigerian president. Since Igbo's stake is Biafra, it's impossible for Igbo to be President of Nigeria unless over 80% of the Igbos join Biafra! Mark my words, Biafra is the only answer to Igbo presidency! Every part of Igbo land should smell, resonate with Biafra. The Church, the streets, the homes, children, youths, old and everybody should talk Biafra. Include everybody in the agitation. It must be loud and consistent. The ruling class is not expected to support it but they must learn to keep quiet or pretend like the northern leaders did when Arewa youths gave Igbos quit notice. It's a win-win thing. If the world sees our seriousness, they will support our freedom and if Nigeria is afraid and ready for negotiations, the choice will be ours. We must take a decision, stick together to the course otherwise no Igbo man will be Nigerian president. If you doubt me, watch 2023 is around the corner. We have not staked anything to make Nigeria consider us for president or vice. It's not a party thing, it's our inability to organise our house. Presidency in Nigeria is not determined by a political party but by the political resolve of each tribe. The truth remains that since 1999, Igbos have not staked anything for us to be considered for presidency.

You were giving insinuations about what was never in my post.

I never accused Igbos or any tribe of anything (it's baseless to do so).

In Nigieria, the political dispensations usually tilted towards TWO MAJOR political parties, eventhough several smaller parties exist.

To win the presidential election, you need to clinch the presidential tickets of any of these two MAJOR political parties (not just running in the Primaries).

However, long term presidential aspirants sometimes gathered enough momentum, experience, publicity and public sympathy to finally win the presidential election, even in well established Democracies.

So many myths have been created about presidential elections in Nigieria and they looked apprently credible because Nigeria haven't practiced Democracy for long.

#Correction: for the benefits of younger generation;

The AD didn't merger with ANPP to form the APP, rather what happened was;

1999: AD and APP went into the election as an alliance in which Olu Falae of the AD was adopted as the presidential candidate of the APP with Umoru Shinkafi of the APP as his running mate.

2002: The newly formed UNPP led by the late Augustus Aikhomu merged with APP under the chairmanship of Alh Ali to form ANPP.

2006: Most AD resigned en mass from the party to form ACD=> AC=> ACN.

2010: The Buhari organization broke away from the ANPP to form CPC.

2013: ACN+ ANPP+ CPC+ faction of APGA led by Okorocha= APC.

UdechiHD:
Imagine your false analysis. Some of you don’t know anything about Ndigbo except those fed you by your propaganda Lagos-Ibadan media. You sit in your bedrooms and analyze issues that are beyond your understanding. How do you mean the Igbos haven’t contested under the major political parties?

Sometimes I get angry with a lot of Yoruba’s and how you downplay or belittle the political efforts of the Igbos. This was how you guys kept deceiving the indomie generations that Ndigbo have never supported the Yoruba political ambitions, until facts were brought forth.

1. You said this trash countless times until the voting results of the 1993 elections was posted on nairaland which busted your falsehood. Abiola winning Anambra and getting over 40% votes in all eastern states despite having an Igbo as running mate for the NRC.

2. You lied again that Ndigbo never stood with you Yoruba’s during the June 12 struggle. Still yet, we saw the row call of the founders of NADECO with a large host of Igbo activists. We saw an Nwankwo as the Vice Chairman of NADECO, we saw a large number of known Igbo elder statesmen who stood their feet. We also saw the likes of Agbakoba, Ubani, Chris Anyanwu etc in Abacha’s dungeon. Lastly, we saw the likes of Ekwueme with his leadership of the G-30 which fought the junta till democracy was gifted in 1999. But because of the exploits of the youthful Daniel Kanu who wasn’t different from the Yoruba leaders who sold out to Abacha, the Igbo nation was ridiculed by you miserable loud mouths.

3. Before you come out spreading your falsehood about Ndigbo not producing candidates for the major parties, here are a list of Igbos who bid for the Presidential positions.

1979 - 1983
NPP: Dr Nnamdi Azikiwe
The NPP won three states in Nigeria, Plateau, Imo, Anambra. The breakaway GNPP faction led by Waziri Ibrahim won Borno state.
NPN: Alex Ekwueme was running mate to Shehu Shagari.

1992-1993 Presidential Election
SDP: Arthur Nzeribe was disqualified
NRC: Emmanuel Iwuanyanwu was disqualified and a host of other notable Igbo sons by Babangida appointed NEC screening committee. This was why no notable Igbo contested for Presidency.
Rather Sylvester Ugoh became running mate to NRC Bashir Tofa.

1999 Presidential Elections
PDP: Alex Ekwueme lost Primary to Obasanjo
APP: Ogbannaya Onu dropped ambition for Olu Falae and his party the ANPP merged with AD to form the APP for the Presidential election.

2003 Presidential Election
APGA: Ikemba Ojukwu. Came third with 1 million votes after Buhari who came second.
ANPP: Chuba Okadigbo contested as running mate with Muhammadu Buhari.

2007 Presidential Election
ADP: Pat Utomi
PDP: Rochas Okorocha came 2nd in the primary that produced Umaru Musa Yar’adua. Ngozi Okonjo-Iweala came a distant third.
ANPP: Edwin-Ume Ezeoke was running mate to Muhammadu Buhari.

2011
PDP: This was the first time no Igbo contested. The GEJ candidacy was supported.

2015
UPP: Chekwas Okolie
AP: Rochas Okorocha

2019
YPP: Kingsley Moghalu whose party won the Anambra South senatorial seat.
PDP: Peter Obi was running mate to Atiku Abubakar
APC: Rochas Okorocha stepped down for Buhari.
APGA: Jerry Chukwueke was running mate to John Gbor

So in other words, Igbo should blackmail other Nigerians with Biafra so as to get the presidency ,right ? What a sense ! It's so clear now,Igbo people have no business with politics. They just can't understand it.

It is a pity that a group of people, Igbo who pride themselves as being smart always leave a big question mark on the level of their intelligence.

This is what will happen in 2023 and beyond : Igbo won't be president of Nigeria and they won't get Biafra.

1. Yoruba with June 12 riots, OPC and now Amotekun.
2. Niger Delta (Ijaw) with pipeline bombings and militancy.
3. The North West with Sharia crisis and religious riots.
4. The North East (Kanuri) are currently staking their claim to the Presidency with Boko Haram.

Even Buhari was notorious for justifying killings, with his Sharia law support and dogs and baboon speech from 2003-2015. If the above groups can do theirs and get away with it, then then other groups can do so too.

You talk of blackmail when you haven't cheeked your dictionary for the meaning of blackmail. Which tribe in Nigeria doesn't blackmail? The events before buhari's election, were they blackmail? You cannot underrate the power of people. If Igbo can't let go of Biafra after 50 years what makes you think they won't get what they want. I think it's this pride that may end this forced marriage soon. You deceived someone the first time, he let you go and the second, he let you go as well. Why are you so sure he will let you go the third time? Things are changing my dear and people have become more complex by the day. The renewed Biafran spirit which Nigeria wants to see will not stop until it achieves its aim because the last has proved Nigeria is a scam. Nothing is impossible, it's a matter of time. Kanu is already doing underground work alone begging Igbos to support him and Nigeria should not push Igbos to change course and follow him. The story will change. Think it about it.

This issue of a President of Igbo extraction is charade. For one thing, there are power blocks in Nigeria, particularly the North, who simply dont trust Igbos. I dont have a problem with people not trusting Igbos with power, what I have a problem with is for the same people to keep lying that we are all brothers in "one Nigeria". How can you be brothers with someone you do not trust?

Even before independence, the North did not trust Igbos with executive power and when an Igbo man became president, they kicked him within 6 months. Northerners will never vote an Igbo man into office. Infact, Northerners are not even ready to let power rotate to the South.

This issue of Igbo Presidency, Yoruba Presidency and Hausa/Fulani only goes to show the fraud called Nigeria. Nigeria is not supposed to be practising the Presidential system of government that gives so much powers to one person. What Nigeria should be practising is a devolved system of government where regions are controlling their resources and have a high degree of autonomy.

Even if Igbos produce the president, it will be at most 8 years after which it will go to other zones for many years, then what?

This all nonsense. What matters is a restructured Nigeria or referendum on independence

You're just a typical emotional and highly egoistic Igbo man who is incapable of having a decent intellectual discourse without betraying the childish emotions. Did you have to delete my post to make yours looks superior ? Heck, no ! You guys will never disappoint though.

Now to your claims, all the regions you listed above did not blackmail the rest of the country, as you are attempting to do now,to claim the presidency of this country. Come to think of it, what are you gonna blackmail the rest of us with ? That you will declare Biafra if the presidency is not surrendered to you or what ? Igbo are not in any position to blackmail Nigeria and Nigerians.

If you think violence will win or get the presidency for you, nobody is stopping you from pursuing that course. Let's see how it goes. As for 2023,Igbo man or woman certainly won't be President of this country and you won't have Biafra as well. If you bet otherwise ,you will lose.

The only way out of your present pitiable situation and what can put an end to your long servitude in Nigeria are :

1. Get down from your high horse and stop having that delusional belief that you're better than other ethnic groups in Nigeria. You aren't better than anybody and as a matter of fact, you have a lot to learn from others

2. Build political bridges across the country and show genuine desire to govern Nigeria without any ulterior motives.

3. Declare war of secession against Nigeria, win the war and have your own country.

Good luck.

Every Nation grapple with some developmental problems and it's responsibility of the Leadership of the Nations to identify ways to solve these problems.

Nigeria is not well developed because we haven't solved most of our problems and this is largely because we don't put forward our best eleven (the best brains in the land) in leadership positions.

The more we open up our selection process for leadership positions, the more we are likely to get quality leadership. We must gradually do away with certain factors (such as religion, tribes, caste etc) that restrict who can aspire to leadership positions.

Any Nigerian citizen that's qualified should run for the highest position. With time, tribe and religions will no longer be determining factors.

In this way, even a Nigerian from a very small tribe (like the Bachama, the Angas, the Afizeres, the Ngzim, the Karekares etc) can aspire for the top most position.

The Igbos are a significant portion of Nigerians.

Correction, Igbos can never be president of Nigeria no matter what they do.

This is a very bad statement if you know the implications.

The Igbos are a significant portion of Nigerians.

We can't build an egalitarian nation if a significant portion of the citizens can't hold the highest position in the land.

Truth hurts but it's better to tell the truth than deceive people. An Igbo can't and will never rule this country and you know that.I personally will never vote for an Igbo president and there are millions of Nigerians like me. You are better off having a BIAFRAN president like Kanu.

Let me tell you one thing sir.

2023 is not very far and candidate that is likely to win by them must have started serious work by now.

Most Igbo politicians aren't in the front race for the tickets of both APC and PDP. So from the look of things, it is very unlikely for an Igbo to be the flag bearer of both parties.

Ordinarily, the PDP which has enjoyed undiluted support and loyalty of the Igbo people for over 20 years supposed to be sympathetic to Igbo presidency but the party is conspicuously silet about it. Rather it is becoming clearer everyday that the party has reserved it's presidential ticket for 2023 Atiku Abubakar.

Even if all Igbos are agitating for Biafra, it won't stop the 2023 election.

In summary,

By 2023:

1) An Igbo candidate may not become the President
2) Biafria will not be created.

The Igbos can't blame other Nigerians for it (most especially if they still give PDP/Atiku overwhelming support in 2023 and they lose).

Mmuoojukwu:
Think about it my dear.
