You Can't Distract Gov. Ugwuanyi from Winning the Fight Against COVID-19 - EYC Tells Critics

Our attention has been drawn to the fake and distorted news-video making round on the social media claiming that Governor Ifeanyi Ugwuanyi of Enugu State ordered the demolition of people's houses inspite of the stay at home order of the government in the ongoing fight against the spread of coronavirus pandemic in the state.

No doubt, the story and video are part of the wider conspiracy to portray the governor as an inhuman or a leader without consideration for the poor and vulnerable people of state.

We observed that the implacable politicians behind the story resorted to this new strategy when their first plan to incite the masses against the governor failed.

In a statement released to newsmen in Enugu on Friday by the National Coordinator of Enugu Youth Coalition, Dr. Edwin Obune, the group said the trending video is nothing but the hand work of mischief makers in collaboration with desperate politicians who want power at all cost in future elections.

It will be recalled that the state government in it's bid to restore the original masterplan of the capital city embarked on demolition of illegal structures in the state, but in their plot to achieve their dark objectives, the errand voices of desperate politicians distorted and presented it as current demolition in the state against the stay at home order of the government.

Is it not illogical to believe that the same workers who were ordered to stay safe in their respective homes by the state government were the same ones demolishing the houses mischievously presented in the fake news-video?

Seriously, these mischief makers are blinded by their ambition that they cannot longer think beyond their aspirations.

Nevertheless, the outbreak of COVID-19 presented an opportunity for us to re-invent the oness in the common humanity we share but desperate politicians sees it as opportunity to instigate the flow of blood in the channel of clean waters.

If they had spent the amount of energy and resources used in fighting the state government in the ongoing fight against COVID-19 pandemic, the disease would have been defeated long ago.

In other states, groups, individuals, organisations and corporate bodies are making donations to assist the poor, help the aged and vulnerable members of the society but nothing is been done in Enugu State besides government programmes and palliatives yet these shameless politicians and their conspirators have the gut to fight the people's government in the state.

Because honour goes with responsibilities, we have mandated our members to document the names of groups and individuals who identified with our people in their trying moments for use when the time comes.

We therefore urge Ndi-Enugu to ignore all the lies and propaganda against the government and people of the state by these rolling-stone politicians who gathers no responsibilities.

On the other hand, we call on the governor to disregard all the tantrums, distractions and vituperations but remain focused in the ongoing battle against COVID-19.

Together, we will defeat coronavirus because Enugu State is in the Hands of God!
