Ghana: Fastest Growing Economy In The World? by rover321: 12:22pm On Dec 31, 2010
A few days ago Economy Watch came out with a list and some analysis as to why they thought Ghana, Qatar, Turkmenistan and others were the fastest growing economies in the world.

According to Economy Watch “As our source, we have taken a look at the data on the Economic Statistics database here at EconomyWatch.com. The data points come from the IMF’s tracker of GDP Growth in constant prices in the national currency (not converted to US dollars). For 2010, we noted that none of the top growth countries were advanced economies; only one was G20. Many people assume that China is the fastest growing country in the world, but that is not the case – it is the fastest growing largest economy, and as we will see that is a different thing.”

Without going into this too deeply, the presumption is that as far as “small” countries go the list below shows which ones are growing fastest.

Perhaps the economists amongst us could share thier thoughts on this with us….

Ghana 20.146 %
Qatar 14.337 %
Turkmenistan 12.178 %
China 9.908 %
Liberia 9.003 %
India 8.43 %
Angola 8.251 %
Iraq 7.873 %
Ethiopia 7.663 %
Mozambique 7.548 %
Timor Leste (East Timor) 7.4 %
Laos 7.395 %
