Sequel to the Constitution of the palliative Committee, the governor of Ondo state Arakunrin Oluwarotimi Akeredolu has constituted another committee which is to take charge of the management of the fund raised by the palliative committee.

However two names are attracting negative attention in the list. The secretary of the committee is Babajide Akeredolu who is the governor's son and The Auditing company which belongs to an in-law of the governor infact a brother to his daughter, Yejide's husband.

The names which was made public on Friday night in a press statement signed by the commissioner for information has further portrayed the image of the governor as nepotistic.

Sometimes in February while celebrating his third year in office Akerdolu had attracted widespread criticism when he said he could make his son Babajide Akeredolu the chief of staff and no one would do anything about it.

Below is the press StatementPRESS STATEMENT

COVID-19: AKEREDOLU CONSTITUTES RESPONSE FUND COMMITTEE

Following the constitution of the palliative committee put in place by his administration to cushion the effects of the COVID-19 pandemic, the Ondo State Governor, Arakunrin Oluwarotimi Akeredolu, SAN, has constituted a committee for Ondo State CoronaVirus Response Fund to mobilize resources to combat the COVID-19 pandemic in the state.

The committee's mandate, amongst others, is to help mobilize funds, in cash or kind, and manage the efficient and transparent utilisation.

Members of the committee include:

Mr. Kayode Falowo - Chairman

Engr. Akin Odumakin - Vice Chairman

Ms.Cecilia Akintomide - Member

Mr. Segun Fagboyegun- Member

Prof. Adesegun Fatusi- Member

Mr. Babajide Akeredolu - Secretary

The Terms of Reference of the Committee are as follows:

i. Recommend and advise the government on funding strategies.

ii. Manage funds mobilized.

iii. Direct funding campaign.

iv. Identify and contact effective funding channels/sources.

v. Carry out any other activities for the success of the above-mentioned.

The Response Fund Committee will work closely with the State Inter-ministerial Committee and is expected to begin work immediately till the last resolution of the pandemic is achieved. It will equally provide weekly reports and submit a concrete completion report at the end of its activities.

For transparency and accountability, the committee will work with Ernst and Young as Fund Advisors, and SIAO Partners will serve as Auditors for the Fund.

Donald Ojogo

Hon. Commissioner for Information and Orientation

and this is also the statement of one of the critics of this move""while Babajide Akeredolu is the Secretary of the committee constituted by Mr Governor Rotimi Akeredolu, Mr Runsewe, the brother of the husband of his daughter Yejide Runsewe, who is Lakunle Runsewe's brother is also one of the SIAO Partners that will serve as Auditor for the Fund. This is a complete fraud intending to steal the money donated. you can Google SIAO Partners for confirmation"

But to be sincere, has he done too much?
Is Holding public position means you can't have your qualified family appointed to work?
What they shouldn't do is to OVER DO, this is not too much for Akeredolu to do.
Last time I checked, Ivanka Trump and Jared Kushner (her husband) works in the White House.

I don't see anything bad in this as long as they are capable of handling the position.

Aketi might just want to use them as insiders so that they can monitor how the funds are been spent.

My thoughts though

Well he must have his reason for nominating his son... either for good or bad and moreover it's not a commitee that will last forever.

You can't hurl insults at Buhari, castigate Rochas and then says it's normal for Akeredolu.

No, it's hypocrisy and double standard.

This is one of the reasons these private individuals should find a way to donate their money and materials directly to the vulnerables and not through government.
