I am currently at enugu state, and I must tell u I am disappointed at the strength of materials of buildings I see around. i went for a conference I entered the room were they had the generator, I could see sand falling off the lintel for the door of a story building I ran. government really needs to look into it.

Inferior building materials

Building plan

Non-professionals handling the project

Etc

Anything could lead to the collapse of a building under construction. Thankfully, no life was lost. The city development authority was vindicated in marking the building for demolition
There's nothing wrong with the building materials.
The usual problem is too little cement.
Cement is the glue that joins everything together. Many builders, if you're not watching, just keep adding so much sand to the mix. Sand, iron rods and granite aggregate alone without enough cement glue? The building must surely fall.

@op you must be devilish to come online to support what Enugu state government and ECTDA is doing around Enugu urban. Demolishing properties that’s have been in existence for over 40years with an outdated acclaimed Enugu state master plan from as far back as the 1930s. If this coronavirus pandemic and the high profile casualties have not given you a rethink about life, then I think you should know where you belong. I'm sure the collapsed building pictures are to help fuel your propaganda.

You guys like making mouth..
Have you supervised a building construction before?
Do you know that you have to go to the site every single day?
As the owner of the building, Do you have the transport and feeding money set aside to do this?
Ok
As a supervisor employed by the owner, can you convince the owner to pay you enough money for everyday transport and feeding so you can supervise the job everyday?

This thing I caused by laziness. Everybody knows what to do but they are too tired and just sit down swiping phone screen

just shut it already...Enugu is made up of sedimentary rocks ...buildings are known for cracks due to earth movement and rock formation over time...but they hardly hardly ever collapse...i repeat they hardly hardly ever collapse...Also they don't build much of high rise buildings like Aba or Onitsha cos they've got excess lands and developments is spread across virtually every local government and region...villages function as towns except for the city centers...Better face your one room conference if you don't know what to say about 042...BTW where did you travel from??
oga every building get expiry date9. earth move or earth no move is that a licence to use poor mixture of cement and sand? read my comment before quoting out of context.
