Ebonyi State Government has Commenced Fumigation of Markets in The State.

Speaking during the flag off, the Ebonyi state governor, Engr David Umahi, represented by his Deputy, Dr Eric Kelechi Igwe, said since the outbreak of the scourge, Ebonyi Government has taken proactive steps to ensure that the global pandemic doesn not find its way to the state.
He emphasised that the flag off is one out of the series of effort made by the state government to ensure Ebonyi people were protected.
He applauded that the doggedness of the state Governor coupled with the provision of needed logistics to attack the virus were all testimonies of the governor’s favourable disposition towards the safety of Ebonyi Ebonyi.
He called on Ebonyi people especially Christians to assist the state government by complying with laid down rules and regulations.

The Governor of Ebonyi State, Engr. David Imahi had in a statement through his Commissioner for Information and State Orientation, Uchenna Orji disclosed that with effect from 4th of April, 2020, anybody seen outside the house must wear a face mask.

Handkerchief, Head tie as well as pre-made medical mask could serve the purpose of face mask, while Security agencies, all sub-committees on COVID-19, Chairmen of Local Government Areas, Coordinators and all Government officials were directed to arrest anyone seen outside his or her home anywhere in the State without wearing face mask.



The statement further requested for information on anyone that may be showing symptoms of high body temperature, dry cough, and difficulty in breathing.



The statement reiterated Government ban on social and Religious gatherings, disclosing that anyone who defies the said regulations would be arrested and premises acquired by government.

Part of the statement reads;

“The use of sanitizers, washing of hands and steaming twice a day, including frequent intake of hot liquids are highly recommended.

“Government is working hard to compile the names of all those that will be needing palliatives from the state and those that will benefit from the Federal Government Conditional Cash Transfer and this will be made known to the public as soon as we are ready.

“We are in contact with our brothers and sisters who came from outside especially areas infested with COVID-19 both within and outside Nigeria and we are monitoring their health conditions on daily basis.

” We direct all the tailors in Ebonyi state to meet the speaker of Ebonyi State House of Assembly; Rt. Honourable Francis Ogbonnia Nwifuru for immediate production of Face Masks
