No, dude, you are describing a quarantine center...

Isolation centers are for people who have tested POSITIVE - whether or not they show symptoms...
The idea is to isolate them from the general population, so that they do not infect their families/communities.
>
I got your point but can you show me a picture of Quarantine centre. We are mixing it and the government is not coming out to tell us which is Isolation or Quarantine centre. Even if those that are positive are being treated in that centre it's still doesn't safe

Isolation center without social distancing, that one na isolation center? I bet you, one can end up getting infected in this center. Smh
That's a treatment center. Meaning only those who are already infected are taken there for treatment

It's 1 of 4 isolation centres.

Isolation center without social distancing nor ventilators, this will only enhance more spread of Covid-19. This should be Covid-+19 center

Having 10 bed ICU ward is not a problem. Checking what is looming, 10bed ICU is as good as nothing. Maybe Kano too may have 2 or 3. God forbid if Lagos has a full breakout like New York, even 10k ventilators won't be enough.
Lagos is 22m population, New York is 20 million.
6% of COVID-19 patients get to critical stage that requires ventilators. Only 14% of that 6% will survive.
God forbid if Lagos has 100k cases, 6k ventilators will be need needed. The 10beds will be given to who is who. I pray to God that we don't get to that level before the cure is developed.

It’s a 10-bed ICU in just ONE center (out of many nationwide)...

Nonetheless, you cannot extrapolate wholesale the impact on NYC to Nigeria. In Nigeria, very few (about 4 in Lagos) cases has been people over 60 years, while in NYC 72% are over 50 with 77% of fatalities over 70 years. The elderly profile of the NYC patients means they are more likely to be extreme cases (principally because elderly people are most likely to have other underlying ailments or have previously suffered other serious illnesses and/or compromised or weaker immune systems and less healthy respiratory systems) and thus more likely to need ventilators and ICU care. Accordingly, of the cases in Nigeria thus far, reportedly less than 1% have needed extreme care.

Of course, Nigeria is neither the US nor even NYC, so we have to be realistic enough (even if angry about it) to acknowledge that we are not as well-resourced nor as well-prepared as they are (and that’s relative as the US and NYC has been shown to woefully unprepared). Having said that, however, the most dangerous characteristic of Covid-19 thus far has been the rapidity of infection. That characteristic enables to overwhelm the healthcare system, however advanced. Accordingly, our best hope is to break the chain of infection (through basic hygiene, testing, contact tracing, isolation, social distancing, etc.), flatten the curve of infection (so, eg, instead of 2000 cases in day, there are 2000 cases in 2 weeks), and end up with numbers that our rickety healthcare system can try to manage. There’s no silver bullet - not even ventilators.

Good luck to us all.

Isolation centers are meant for only those that have been confirmed to have the sickness.

They didn't say QUARANTINE centre. Know the difference.

True sir, but despite that, if patients are meant to recover from the disease in those centers, there should be social distancing.

This is considering the fact that recovery from the disease doesn't confer enough immunity to prevent reinfection

You can use several other spaces to quarantine people...
In Osun, they used a secondary school for the returnees from CIV. In the US, the used a military barracks,

It does in the immediate term...

The only thing we do not know is if it a long-term immune response...
Because this is a new virus, and we do not yet have long-term studies available.

Once operational, it would be off-limits to all but essential staff (in PPE).

And cases of reinfection that occurred about five days to a week after discharge? I think there was a case on China and another in Malaysia or something; I'm not sure

Patients are NOT removed from Isolation Centers immediately they test negative...

First, because there’s a possibility there will be still some viral residues in their system as their immune systems may fluctuate up and down depending on basic things like how well they slept, which is why sometimes there are positive results after someone in treatment has tested negative. Accordingly, patients are only released after 2 consecutive negative tests about 2 or 3 days apart. Nonetheless, there’s no danger of external infection or re-infection at that point because such patient’s immune response is strong enough at that point to reject the virus.
>
the word " immediately " has no universally assigned time frame. In this context to be released immediately means the person has undergone through all the number of tests, scientific processes and conditions required before one is certified negative. If the person still has the traces of the virus or its residues or his blood still secret the virus such a person is not negstive. There is nothing like negative with residues or traces of the virus.
A negative person is one who has gone through all the required number of tests and processes and is found with no traces or residues of the virus such a person has no business remaining in the isolation center

You mean this centre is of international standard by you comparing it with NYC where they presently recording over a thousand deaths a day. Even if a centre in the New York looks like this, it is because they've been overwhelmed by the virus they didn't start like this.

Even the beds aren't practicing social distancing.

Just the same way the police will arrest u for walking on an empty road and then throw u into a cell filled with people.

All cells are empty now. If you are detailed in a cell at the moment, just know you're going to court the next day.

The OVERWHELMING MAJORITY of the positive cases will NOT need ventilators...
In fact, in Nigeria, so far, about 95% of the cases have shown moderate to NO symptoms at all.

Isolation centers/wards are NOT ICUs...
The people on these beds will be positive, but NOT extreme cases.

In fact, MANY (if not most) of them will show NO symptoms at all (or mild)...
But still need to be isolated merely so that they don’t infect others in their families/communities.

So in ur opinion it is safe to say that we are not yet prepared for when shyte hits the fan so if 5 people need ventilators what hapens?
