How To Manage Resources During The Coronavirus Lockdown by Teettyllayho: 12:35pm On Apr 07, 2020
The recent Coronavirus Pandemic has forced many people in the entire world into a lockdown.

As nations battle to contain the virus, the whole world has been forced into a house arrest. This is important to reduce the spread of the virus.

Thankfully, many nations gave their citizens around 48 hours to prepare for the lockdown. As a result, people really stuck up foods and other resources they will need.

The minimum timeline for the lockdown is 14 days in some countries, while it might last up to 30 days in other countries.

This makes it essential to manage resources during the lockdown effectively.

Here are some steps to manage resources, especially food during the COVID-19 lockdown.

Get Busy

Many people do not necessarily eat to satisfy hunger. We eat in reaction to emotions like celebration, sadness, boredom, and loneliness.

This means that doing nothing has a high capacity for making you overeat. If this goes on uncontrolled, it can deplete your resources fast.

Not everyone has the opportunity to work from home. Hence, if you will be out of work during the lockdown, engage in things that will keep you busy.

Examples of things with which you can stay busy are:

Learning new skills

Learning a cooking recipe

Taking an online course, etc.

Be mindful when watching movies as you can overeat without even knowing.

Practice Intermittent Fasting

This is a good time to activate and engage your fitness goal. Intermittent fasting is not explicitly meant for losing weight.

It is a way to detox your body, get rid of toxins and even make you live longer. It is also helpful for the kids because it helps keep their brain active.

Intermittent fasting is not starving but meal scheduling. For instance, if you usually take breakfast by 8 am, you can shift it to 9 am and eat dinner by 4 pm and that will be all.

You can eat snacks and drink water if you are hungry. This way, you limit your foods to two times per day, and you still get tremendous health benefits, rather than starving.

Improve Your Cooking Skills
Now that we are in lockdown, eateries and cafeterias are locked. This will force everyone to consider homemade foods.

In a bid to reduce your resources, consider homemade meals. You can cook different meals and try out various recipes.

It does not have to be something exorbitant, focus on making the meal nutritious and healthy.

Have a Meal Schedule

It is easy to exhaust yourself with cooking and use your resources ineffectively if you do not have a plan.

When you know the resources you have, it will be easy to have a meal schedule. With a meal schedule, you can plan out the meals you will eat as breakfast, lunch, and dinner.

This way, you get to the proportion of each meal based on the time and the whole resources you have.

If you can religiously abide by the meal schedule, it will go a long way in helping you manage your resources and reduce wastage.

Reduce Wastage

The entire world is in lockdown. While the government projects an average of 14 days lockdown, it might be more than that.

This makes it essential to avoid wastage and maximize all resources. In case you cook in excess, make sure you preserve it.

Throwing food away should not be an option. Even if you have foods that cannot be preserved in excess, give it to your pet.

Besides, you should try and avoid having excess foods in the first place. You can do this by cooking just what will be enough for the whole household.

This way, you preserve your resources in a way that will last you throughout the lockdown.

Conclusion

Many people might not be used to managing their resources. But circumstance and the situation of the world has made this inevitable.

For you not to lose your mind and have enough to take you through the lockdown period, it is vital to get creative and be bold.

We have discussed five action steps that can keep you on top of the situation.

Even though the lockdown is for a while, it is essential not to run out of necessary things.
