Job Hunting : Source For A Job Like The Recruiter by Thecvbankng: 12:35pm On Apr 14, 2020
Why we are looking at this topic is because we have been able to identify some lacuna in the process of job hunting especially by the young graduates. So our goal today is to make sure that we source for job appropriately and get a desired result when doing so.Many are frustrated because of job scarcity in the country and because of that they throw out their CVs to any job opening. This will only worsen the situation or increase the frustration. Because recruiter is not interested in your predicament to fill a role.
Neither is any recruiter want to know how long you have been out of Job.

So what ever the motive you have for applying for a job.. Remain with you. It does not affect the decision of the Recruiter. That's why we need to know what the Recruiter think.. About the job posts. We must understand what recruiters are interested in seeing and knowing about you.

If not.. We will continue to do the same things with the same result forever.

1. You are not qualified for all Jobs!

Please let this sink in, agree with yourself about this statement. If not your cv will always end up in the bin or recycle bin.

No 2: You must Know your strength and weakness. Don't think you don't have weakness, your ability not to know your weakness is even a weakness already. Because you need to know, so that you won't pursue a job around it or build a career around it. It's advisable we leverage on our area of gifting and expertise

3. Stop looking for Job, start building a career.
Jobs are what you do just to make money while career are jobs you'd OKAY that define you and give your life a meaning. In career you become a specialists over time and you can be a person of impact in that field. It is what comes to people mind when your name is mentioned
So.. Don't just live to find a job. Live to identify a career path.

4. Maximizing valuable relationships.
Many attractive jobs are not posted online.. Recruiter look inward to their network first before looking outside.

Which means you have to use the social platform to your advantage and connect with people that can assist you in your field. Build and maintain this relationship.. It works.

Now... What is RECRUITER LOOKING FOR IN YOUR CV?

If you understand what I want to tell you now.. If you sent 5 applications you will be called for at least 4 interviews because.. There's a lot of screening that take place on your cv before you can be called for interview. And if you get it right, you will allows be called.

If any recruiter invites you for interview, note that you are a potential employee of the company or client the recruiter might be recruiting for.

So how do I make sure I get called for interview?

Don't apply for any job.

Apply with a focus.

As a fresh graduate yet to build a career in any field. You must have at least 3 CVs.
You need to prepare CVs for different area of your capabilities. As I earlier said you must know your strength..

For instance if you can work as a customer service rep, you can also work as a Admin officer and even as a Facility officer. You are not expected to have one cv for all this roles
You need to tailor fit your cvs to suit all this role. Each of them.

The recruiter is not foolish about his or her requirements and specifications stated there
It was written there because that's the business need at the moment

So you should carefully study it and understand it.
Doing this alone can make you pass an interview
So when you study it. You must make sure that your cv meet at least 80% of the job requirements.

If not... You are not thinking like a Recruiter.

Recruiters are paid by organisations to get this job done. So they always want to deliver value.
When you send cvs that does not match the requirements, you are only wasting your time.
It always end in the bin.

Recruiters are looking for talent.

So what do you do? Make sure you are that talent. If you want to apply for customer service role, you must at least have a good command of written and oral English
You must be good with Microsoft Office suit.
Excel, PowerPoint and word at least
If there's any additional skills stated in the job requirements. Make sure you go and acquire it rather than wasting time sending cvs here and there.

Now to job experience:

Many of the job ads out there are always asking for experience. You are looking for customer service role and the experience you had is sales executive. All you need to do is to present your customer service skill on your cv. Stating customer service as your experience
If you send sales executive as your experience.. You won't be called.

Recruiter will call you for interview if your experience tally with the job opening.
You have experience as a teacher on your cv and you are applying for facility officer role with it.

What's the correlation?

For instance I am a recruiter. And I have human resources as Bsc.

Because I have been working as recruiter, it easier for me to get a Recruiter role. Because that's where I have experience.
So if you are looking to work as A HR officer for instance... What do you do?

Look at what of you have done in the past related to HR?

As a teacher.. You can fluant it as learning and development officer on your cv. If you have work as Admin before, you can fluant it as HR /Admin officer. And the most important things is how you are developing yourself to suit the role.

Don't just have an attractive cv and fumble at the interview panel

Finall...

You can gain experience even when you are not employed. I remember how I understood payroll management through my mentor even when I haven't gotten job. See you need to have a career mentor in your field.. That you can learn from.

Ask relevant questions about the job.. Know how they practice this functions then you will add it to your cv as your experience.
