Ogun State Governor, Dapo Abiodun on Tuesday said the current relaxation of the lockdown in the state from 7am to 2pm would be suspended on Friday.

The governor also said the state would soon commence strict enforcement of wearing of face masks in the public, saying it would help flatten the spread of coronavirus. The governor in the statement by his Chief Press Secretary, Kunle Somorin, urged the residents of the state to consider the extension announced by the President on Monday a necessary sacrifice to defeat an invisible and deadly enemy.

He said, “Therefore, the current window of relaxation of the lockdown in the state from 7am to 2pm, which follows the same pattern of last week, will still be available for this Wednesday (15th April) and Friday (17th April, 2020) only.

“This is to allow the residents prepare for the extension of the lockdown and restock on food and other essential items. However, Ogun State borders remain closed. “It should be emphasised that people should only go out if they need to and are required at all times when outside their homes to wear a face mask, including locally made face masks, even as they observe other social distancing measures. “The state will soon commence strict enforcement of wearing of face mask in the public as it has been shown to help flatten the spread of the virus.”

This governor is applying common sense unlike the guys in Abuja. My concern is the ‘audio’ border closure, what measures are being put in place to protect the Lagos/Ogun borders whose residents are now under serious security threat.

It's really going to be a long ride. Good decision to reduce the spread of the virus tho but these politicians should understand that there's serious hunger in there. Something should come through pleaseeeee. Help Nigerians.

Honestly, Nigeria government just like copy copy, can you imagine what this figure head governor is saying.

What has he done to make sure that things are so much easy for the citizen of Ogun state to sit at home for that period?

This governor knows nothing, since his assumption as the governor, things has not been moving, he was just so lucky to be rigged in.

Before the lockdown, in the whole of elega in abeokuta, they hardly have light for 5hours in a week, what of water, his attitude towards that is zero.

All the work that has been going on the state presently is the continuation of the past government apart from painting schools, who send am that one?

Can you imagine no light, no water, and no work, no food, how do you want people to stay inside for the whole of 14days without all these ammenities?

We sure have a very long place to go in this country

Great

This is necessary because it is been abused

The governor should please look into this robbery of a thing. We are all hungry and we all cannot steal, this guy beat hell out of people who have no food.

The governor sir the palliative measure that was kicked off on Ota is not for the masses o but to the core loyalists of the APC.

It would have been better if it's not there than what's going on now it is just too bad haba

It is quite apparent from the comments so far that comprehension is a problem for some. The lockdown is NOT being suspended. Read well. They're tightening up! They plan to remove the lockdown free days as well as enforce the use of masks.
