[size=18pt]Nigerian national held with fake currency[/size]

A Nigerian national was arrested in Chandigarh for travelling without official documents and possessing counterfeit currency, the Chandigarh police said on Wednesday.

Joseph, who hails from Ezegbo Lagos town of Nigeria, (see how dem dey mess up Lagos name) was arrested by the economic offences wing of Chandigarh police on Tuesday night from Sector 17 inter-state bus terminus.

The police said on interrogation, Joseph said he had been staying in India without any valid documents for over five months and his actual name is[b] Joseph Prince Machael Chukwudozie.[/b] The police said he was produced in the local court and was remanded to police custody till Thursday. He shall be produced in the court on Thursday again.


“He was about to dupe a Chandigarh resident with the fake currency notes. But before that, he was arrested. The source of counterfeit currency is yet to be ascertained,” said one of the investigating officers. A case under the Foreign Immigration Act has been registered and further investigations are on.
