The good gesture of Jesus Christ is man-centric. He caters for everybody without bias, both in the word, materials, healing among others. The gospel of Jesus entrenches good manners to the poor, association with all and sundry without selection. Jesus’ message established that, both the poor and rich are created by God and He cherish their respective well-being in all wise. The rubrics and classical teachings of Jesus Christ can be found in the deeds of the materials Apostles. The aftermath of Christ’s resurrection sprouted good things that led to the expansion of the church on earth. For instance, all disciples (Christians) that time were all comfortable as they shared their material things. The scripture says: “None of their members was ever in want; all those who owned land or houses would sell them; bring the money from them, to present it to the apostles; and distributed to any members who might be in need" (Acts 4).
Attachment to material things in our contemporary Church is alarming. It is worth mentioning that, what Apostles or disciples concentrated on that time was more than religious obligations, but a huge heart of compassion and deep affection to mankind in the guise of the Holy Spirit. It is not easy to lay off ones’ property and submitting the proceeds to the Apostles who will appropriate it to the necessary quota for the common good of disciples. All these deeds and many more made the early church flourishing in the Spirit.
The church of God must intensify in their good works, to be tenacious in helping the needy among their members. In the early church according to the scriptures, non of them lack anything. The church today must also be proactive in the welfare of their members. Attempt can be made by listing the widows and other less privileged in their folds. The identification of these people in the churches can further bring succour to the church which are the members in it, for the common good of the society we live.
