Some weeks back I said it is time Africans look inwardly and come up with a cure for the novel CoronaVirus that has held the globe under lockdown. In time past, the western world would come up with a curative drug or vaccine to mitigate against such health concerns but it appears our regular source of relief is as overwhelmed. It might interest you to know that our very own here in Nigeria have been researching our local foods and herbs for cure to communicable and non-communicable diseases for some decades with resounding rate of success. However, due to the Nigerianized mode of handling research and discoveries, these achievements have gone unnoticed and uncelebrated despite winning awards at the international summits. The civilized countries of the world are at a phase of testing new drugs on COVID-19 patients and I am of the opinion that while Africa waits on their super heroes from the West for cure/vaccines to cure CoronaVirus, it will be wise we start testing our very own best locally made drugs against this deadly virus.
