Heartbreak is a great leveler. In Heartbreak town, everyone is equal. The heart doesn’t take into account your big academic degrees or your notable career achievements to determine how devastating and disruptive the hurt will be. When all is said and done, Heartbreak is heartbreak.

One minute, your world is standing right on its axis and you could have sworn that nothing could go wrong. The next minute, the love of your life reaches right through your chest and rips your heart out. Your life literally grounds to a sharp halt, and you genuinely doubt that things will ever be quite the same. It’s an emotional heartbreak, so you get confused as to why you can actually physically feel your heart hurt.

You lose your appetite, lose sleep, lose focus. Gradually, you’ll start losing yourself too. If you do not snap out of it.

It sounds impossible, but if you play your cards right, you will come out of this a better, more centered person. So, let’s list out the cards you have to play.

Let your emotions out.
Heartbreaks plunge us into grief. So, it is definitely very okay to accept the way you feel and allow yourself to mourn. Cry, sob your eyes out, scream and yell. So long as it doesn’t hurt you or anyone else, find ways to release and let go of the pain you may be feeling. The mistake people make is to try to move right along with life like nothing happened despite the pain they feel. The only thing this does is make the hurt grow and fester within you. Honor your feelings sis, it helps you move past them!
