THE LAST TWO PARAGRAPHS ARE SAYING THAT YOU CANNOT AS ODUDUWA NATION REPRESENT NIGERIA IN ANY FORUM THAT YOU REPRESENT YOURSELF. NO DOUBLE SPEAKS NO EQUIVOCATION. SO ODUDUWA AND OR YORUBA NATION IS ALREADY A MEMBER OF THE UN IF SHE SO WISHES.

By Dapo Akinrefon

The Yoruba nation has been accepted as the 45th member of the Unrepresented Nations and Peoples Organisation, UNPO. President of the Yoruba World Congress, YWC, Banji Akintoye, said this on Tuesday, noting that the latest development represented a very important step in the collective quest of Yoruba people to achieve the goal of dignity and self-determination. UNPO, formed on February 11, 1991 in The Hague, Netherlands, is an international membership-based organisation established to empower the voices of unrepresented and marginalised peoples worldwide and to protect their fundamental human rights.

Members comprise indigenous peoples, minorities, unrecognised peoples or peoples of occupied territories. Akintoye, in a statement, noted that the Yoruba-speaking nation membership was contained in a letter addressed to him through the YWC Coordinator for Europe by her Secretary-General, Ralph Bunche. He said UNPO membership affords the Yoruba nation an opportunity to participate in advocacy training, worldwide cultural festivals, election monitoring/observation, and sports activities, among the unrepresented nations. Akintoye said: “Some former members, such as Armenia, East Timor, Estonia, Latvia, Georgia and Palau have gained full independence and have joined the United Nations, UN, as full members.

“The peoples represented within the UNPO membership are all united by one shared condition: they are denied their equitable level of representation and voice in the institutions of the countries to which they currently belong and in international governance. “As a consequence, their opportunity to participate on the national or international stage is limited and unfair, and they struggle against difficulties in their effort to realise their rights to civil and political participation and to control their own economic, social and cultural development. “In many cases, they live under pressure of the worst forms of violence and repression, such as is being perpetrated by armed herdsmen and militias, as well as by terrorist Boko Haram, against many peoples of Nigeria, including our Yoruba nation.

“This violence and repression are being adroitly and surreptitiously supported by the government of Nigeria. “In some cases, members of UNPO need serious help because they live in countries and under governments that actively resist their progress and destroy their achievements, as our Yoruba nation lives in Nigeria. “The UNPO is able to address issues that often remain hidden because UNPO has the freedom to raise issues that others cannot raise due to political or funding constraints. Today, UNPO has more than 40 member-nations.”

I can feel your pain through my phone right now.

How does it feel like to be scammed by your director?

He was busy jumping from the UK to Israel to US and Italy, gallivanting and enjoying the money you all donated, yet he couldn't even register you guys in an international organization that mattered.

Even the Ogonis are registered there.

You can drop your phone now and weep bitterly. I would do the same if NnamdI Kanu scammed the hell out of me.

Oh and by the way we don't make noise. We ACT.

grin

Are you alright? I should cry because the "shady and unreliable" people registered their name with a non profit organisation?

Do you know how many of such existing already. You ACT hahahahahahahahahaha

I no longer take you guys serious. There is something fundemetally wrong with a people without clear cut principle. That is prone to facing all sides at the same time.

The time Kanu should devote to substantial political progress for his people he wastes it away worrying and campaigning about Jubril el Sudan.

Its not too late. Kanu needs to wake up and put focus on the right agenda.
Jubril el Sudan is not an agenda, should never have been one.

I don't see Scottish in the UK shouting, jog, or dancing everyday, and i can't see them insulting or calling anyone cowards i also can't see them demanding for anybodies head.

Why would Scotland need to shout? Have you ever heard anyone say "one Britain"? They dont need to say 'one Britain' because nobody in Britain believes it is 'by force' to be part of Britain. This same Britain are the ones who created Nigeria. But in Nigeria, you will hear different people shouting 'one Nigeria' everyday and when people like IPOB or Nnamdi Kanu say that it is not by force to belong to Nigeria, they will send or support sending armed security forces after them. So why wont they shout and insult Nigeria that is far backward to Britain? Why wont they insult all those who have ganged up to deny them their right to choose between Nigeria and Biafra?

A beautiful submission of Adeyinka Grandson, the president of Young Yoruba for freedom concerning the membership of Yoruba in UNPO.

*The Yoruba Membership of the UNPO:*

The efforts of the liberal Yoruba World Congress led by Prof. Banjo Akintoye in respect of the enrolment of the Yoruba nation as a member of the Unrepresented Nations and Peoples Organization (UNPO), is not inherently bad.

UNPO is for minority ethnic nationalities who want out of their respective countries to form their own independent nations.

The Yoruba nation is not a minority ethnic group, but the majority ethnic group in Nigeria and has no business being a member of the UNPO.

As a matter of fact, the population of the Yoruba nation in Nigeria is more than 60 million. The Yoruba should be the one ruling in Nigeria and grant freedom to the minority Fulani and not the other way round. The Scottish as a minority is always asking for a referendum from the English who has the majority of the population of the United Kingdom. The minority African Americans have never dictated to the majority Caucasians in the United States. The Yoruba membership of the UNPO is ridiculous to say the least.

The Ogoni nation is a member of the UNPO because it is a minority ethnic group with a population of 800,000 people. They joined the UNPO after the murder of Ken Saro-Wiwa by Abacha.

The Yoruba nation membership of the UNPO is not bad, but an affront to the civilization of the Yoruba nation and her people. What we require is to lobby the United States of America for a Special Envoy to Yorubaland to negotiate our way out of Nigeria, and or take the presidency of Nigeria with which we can then return the country back to the agreed regional system of government and where the minority Fulani and their criminally minded Ibo ally continue to reject a return to the regional government, then we break up the country for good.

The membership of the UNPO should be reserved for the minority ethnic groups like the Edo (5m), Uhrobo (2m), Nupe (4.5m), Tiv (5.6m), Ebira (2m), Igala (1.5m), Bussawa (3m), Kanuri (7m), Birom (2m) and Idoma (4m), but definitely not for the Yoruba (60m) who has the majority ethnic population out of Africa.

The Yoruba liberals agitating for the Odùduwà Republic since the defeat of Jonathan in 2015 have been playing too much.

We believe in an independent Yoruba country, distinct from Nigeria as a whole. However, we need power to break the barrier of One Nigeria, and these powers can be attained within three alternatives to the current state.

*EXTERNAL POWER/FORCE:*
That is, forming a super special relationship with the United States of America, the State of Israel, the Federative Republic of Brazil, etc. in order to get a US Special Envoy to Yorubaland and of course for a trade agreement with the United States of America after we might have left the bloc of this horrible and fraudulent One-Nigeria unitary system.

*POLITICAL PARTICIPATION:*
We target 2023, as the final stage for political involvement in this non-working country, as we believe in the mandate of a full blooded conservative Yoruba citizen as the president of Nigeria. He would be persuaded to return Nigeria back to a workable regional system of government that we all agreed to prior to Nigeria independence in 1960 as amended in the Nigeria’s constitution of 1963.

*ORGANIZED VIOLENCE:*
In the event that the above two failed before 2023, there is no doubt that Yorubaland part of Nigeria would leave the bloc violently as we would deploy whatever sophisticated weapons available to negate the effects of the unitary system, safeguard and defend our civilization for the generation yet unborn not to experience this awful unitary presidential system.

Whoever thinks there is a better alternative to the three above mentioned options should of course show us the way with which the Oduduwa Republic can be achieved.
