If care is not taken there will be an implosion in kano which will explode across the nation.
The elite as well as the masses are falling to this ailment and yet they seem unconcerned about the consequences of their actions and inactions.
I just hope and pray that by the end of this whole exercise there will be more sensible individuals in kano than there are the foolish ones,as insanity tends to project ignorance and ignoramus behaviours.
A word they say is enough for the wise,if there is any.

You are right. I live in Kano. Hitherto, at the area I live, they still call and gather for prayers except Friday prayers.

You are in the middle of a pandemic with people dying left and right.

This has to have been allowed by a brainless individual.

Whoever suggested this is the fool of the decade. angry

Islam religion will remain dey major cause of backwardness in the North

Islam has nothing to with this.
There are muslims in the SW, the whole of the middle east is filled with muslims who aren't backward and even more developed than you, many Asian countries also practice the religion and they're not backward either.

It's more of a cultural thing in the north of Nigeria where the leaders don't want majority of their citizens to be educated and rather would want the staus quo to remain.
Status quo where generations of their citizens will remain subservient to the elites.
The citizens too are also blinded by this culture whereby they believe they can never be great and are born to serve the elite.
Sanusi tried to change that mentality and the culture, but they weren't having it.

The main question is can Kano residents stay away from others?
When the lockdown is lifted from other states, those in Kano will still travel down to neighbouring states in the north- kaduna, Lagos, Portharcourt, Abuja etc

Islam is the reason, because if it was fully understood, in which it wouldn't just like the Bible, so many things wouldn't happen in the name of Islam, then wen u talk of dey teachers twisting the message and force it down to the people

Why bring Islam into this pls? Or is it just a way of showing ur bigotry, intolerance and hatred toward the religion? Islamic countries like Saudi Arabia, Morocco, Malaysia, Qatar, UAE and many others are all working hard to contain the pandemic.
Italy, Spain and USA that have the highest number of death, are u going to blame Christianity for that?
Pls be reasonable.

If Sanusi was still the Emir and was respected by Ganduje and all Kano citizens, the situation in Kano would not be like this. Sanusi is well educated and knows much about modern happenings. He would have given strict laws to the Kano citizens to stop public gatherings, stop movements to Kano and take the Covid 19 serious. He would have been in the better position of educating them on the seriousness of the pandemic. But now Kano have only illiterates leading them. Some of them still don't believe in Covid 19.

Kano would take over Lagos as the hot bed of Covid 19 by next month. Save this post. People would die like chickens in the north in the next few months.

Honestly, they need to ask for Sanusi forgiveness and bring him back to help them

But pride and ego won't allow them

Throwback:
It is now that Kano will suffer for its own inherited shortcomings.

A large population who are under the shackles of religious culture, poverty and habitual disorderliness, is a recipe for chaos.

People should not blame the Governor. If he did not succumb to the demands of a vast, hungry, and religious mob, it could have resulted to a toppling of the constitutional government. The same way such mobs have overran police stations to lynch suspects who have been accused of blasphemy.

Don't blame the Governor, for without such illogical and irrational concessions, his regime would have ended before the next weekend.

The Governor knows that Kano's version of 1million boys would not just attack the vulnerable residents, but would effect a statewide crises/uprising that will affect the rich and the political. So better to create a window of normal life to ease their discomfort.

However, it is very promising seeing that most Northern governors are employing the current chaos as an opportunity to correct some of the archaic habits that have been previously resisted, like the Almajiri problem.

As a sound administrator, never let an opportunity to employ a prevailing chaos to effect resisted change pass by.
This disease despite the unfortunate deaths might just be the proper catalyst we've been lacking to correct some of the self destructive behaviour in Nigeria and specifically the North willingly or unwillingly.

And u see all those talks that the government in the north don't want their populace to be educated is all hoax. I stay in the north and I schooled there. Their government are really trying a lot for their people to be educated. No government in the entire federation give the amount of scholarship that the north enjoyed from their government.
When I was in school few years ago, Zamfara state government do give their indigene some stipend every month no matter where u are schooling. Kano state do give once in a year and it is something solid. During kwankwaso tenure, he sponsor 1506 Kano indigene to study for their Masters in different countries of the world apart from other that were sponsored to study for their degree also.
And u see all those notion that northerners don't go to school, hmmmmm, na lie ooooooooo, I swear na big time lies. U need to come up North here check all their higher institutions, na them full am. Although I agree that they are not up to the southerners but mehn dem dey go school. A lot of people who has been to the north will be giving false narrative about the north with so much confidence due to hearsay

I won't be surprised of the number of cases nationwide hits 10,000. Could it hit 100,000?

By then, however, I feel other countries around the world will be able to come to our aid or we are finished. By then, I am sure most countries would have contained the pandemic by then.

Pls don't bring issue of religion here, u guys are so quick to attack Islam when issue of the north is brought up forgetting that there are also millions of indigenous Christians also in the north.
Are we going to blame Christianity also for Italy, Spain and US for having highest casualties from this Covid-19
