The coronavirus pandemic is a crisis and the world is seeing the number of people affected increasing rapidly everyday.

To control the spread of the virus, several measures have been implemented in different countries, including Nigeria. ‘Social distancing’ and ‘self-isolation’ are phrases you might have heard more of recently and are two critical interventions being put in place to limit the spread of coronavirus. These measures slow the spread of the virus, and when appropriately practiced, can slow the rate of infection in a town, community or even the entire country.

Early this morning, at Polaris Bank Shomolu Lagos State, where social distance Measure and Poor Organized process by the management as not been put in place.

An Eyewitness confirmed that, the security men in charge of the branch take people in through the back door of the bank while many and others are outside waiting to be attended to.

The Lagos State Governor acknowledged the role of banking sector in sustaining the economy, urging banks to open all their branches and offer full complement of their services to the public. He, however, said banking operations must fall within the stipulated hours of 9am to 3pm, adding that banks’ managements must ensure regular cleaning and decontamination of their ATM machines and devices regularly used by the public.

I hope this won't be the beginning of the end. I will still blame our govt before blaming our people who ignored the biggest enemy town.

Ftc dedicated to those who believed in genuine social distancing not the hypocritical type.

It's unfortunate that almost all banks recorded this same issue of overcrowding. Bank's can only do so much but we, as customers, should also help ourselves and maintain some level of decorum. I expect the bank to deal with the errant security guards though. This virus is not a joke

You have been on lockdown for more than a month, you didn't die because you cannot go to the bank. So why the rush now? Will you die if you don't go to the bank this week?

A time will come when nobody will tell them to stay at home, they'll decide on their own

This is even very small, ordinary Ibadan here sef the queue go fear you...

Thank God for bringing cashless policy to us before this lockdown, if not, people would break down bank gates grin

Nigeria never prepared itself for any lockdown , none of our past government ever did too...

We never had a proactive government

Let's be frank with ourselves, do people (adults o) need others to coordinate them about their own safety? This has nothing to with education, it is sheer stupidity. I was at a First Bank branch ATM on Saturday, even though there were markings to help people to distant themselves from others many choosed to flaunt it and gathered in close proximity. I choosed not to stay in such lines until it was one person to my turn. And yet the useless guy following whom I had complained to that I was not joining the queue so as to maintain social distance, was busy giving me a close marking.

banks are to be blame, Why do they close some of their branches knowing fully well opening few branches will attract huge crowd, thereby helping to spread the virus. They are actually helping to spread the virus.

What exactly were people rushing to the banks to do? Like a banker friend said, most people queuing up there had no business been there in the first place.

I hope we do not regret this decision to ease the lock down. The attitude of people out there does not suggest that this COVID 19 pandemic is still on the increase . Pictures from Onitsha, Lagos, Abuja and other major cities reflect people in festive mood. Please we need to be very careful. From the ongoing, a second lock down is inevitable but I hope it will not be too late. NCDC surely has a lot of work to do.
