The Special Adviser to President Muhammadu Buhari on Media and Publicity, Femi Adesina, has said the federal government denied the Kano State government N15billion to fight COVID-19 because the latter prioritized his quest for money over preliminary proactive engagement to overcome the disease in the state.

The Special Adviser made the revelation on Thursday morning as he responded to questions on the program ‘As E Dey Hot’ on Wazobia FM, Kano.

Adesina explained:”The federal government assisted Lagos State with N10 billion only because it was satisfied the government of Lagos started on the right footing, rolling out proper plans and mobilizing its fund to fight the pandemic.”

He said “Lagos state was only scouting for technical, manpower and facility supports, not financial support”, adding that the “Buhari government felt obliged to lend a financial hand not because it was asked to, but because it was convinced it should.”

According to Daily Independent, Adesina revealed that all the governors directly asking for money at the start of their COVID-19 crisis may not get it, saying that was why the president sent technical support to Kano State which the government felt was what the state needed most at the material time.


It was not clear from his response if the federal government will eventually grant Kano State’s request for financial support which was alleged to be in the region of N15 billion.

This is absolute stupid nonsense. As the current spokesman of the President, you forgot you made a speech public telling us why the money was released to Lagos?

Flashback, not obliged but because it was the epicenter. With hundreds dead in Kano with the so called mysterious illness and the large number of positive cases, that is enough reason to oblige the Presidency to act.

When people elect stupid rulers, they suffer from stupid decisions.

Oga you sound like someone that is not in this country. Kano state don't deserve to be given any money at all. These guys are animals. When the corona virus first hit Kano state, they said it was a Western virus and a hoax. They said corona virus doesn't exist. They even went as far as making videos of themselves washing their dirty hands and drinking the dirty water the used in washing their dirty hands just to prove their stupid and senseless claims that corona virus is not real. When people started dying mysteriously in hundreds in kano, I remember this same Olodo governor came on air to say that the reports were fake. Only for him to come out later to admit that after an investigation was conducted, it revealed that 80% of the people that died, died of corona virus. Is it this same man that should be taking serious? I believe he is only looking for an opportunity to loot. That guy is human bullion van.

This is not the time for political gymnastics but a time for urgent actions to save lives. We do not even have the luxury to allow massive looting. All hands and released cash must be well managed. But, Kano and other States need urgent intervention.
