Nice Road.. but what I don't understand is how a nice road will be constructed and the contractors forgets to mark the lanes . Was that an oversight or where they deliberately being naughty?
it is no news because 80% of Nigeria roads are not marked, both in rural and urban areas

I think he could have spent N70bn which the project would cost on something more productive

Oyo state revenue is around 50bn to 70bn per year, which should leave about N30bn N40bn for capital expenditure.

We can't spend 90% of our capital expenditure project on a simple thing as road, especially since ibadan doesn't have a traffic problem like Lagos.

We should rather invest more in Agriculture and industry to create more employment opportunities.
How then do u expect the governor to make money both for himself and for his politicking? Or does he have another job?
Y'all often seem to think this governors are here to serve u, they are in government house to make money it's their job.

I think Gov Ajimobi ought to be responsible for that. The idea was to create a road network where interstate travels outside Ibadan won't need to pass within the city. The former gov started the construction and when Gov. Makinde came, he stopped work on it for review. Later, work was resumed because he claimed that the road has huge economic importance to Oyo State. In my own opinion though, making the road is not a bad idea especially as Oyo State has been witnessing increase in road traffic compared to what used to be the case in the past 8 or 9 years ago.

On the topic, the number of road lanes alone don't translate to development. Development is just a smart way of dealing with internal challenges of a place. Huge population figure, concentrated economic activities etc can increase traffic flow which is mostly solved by increasing the road lanes or providing mass transit system.

you are right but he never stopped it...the project will be constructed by ENI courtisum ltd and the company will fund it with Oyo govt....the company will put toll gate and collect generate up to #67B for many years and the deal was signed in 2017

and makinde now stop the project and renegotiate the project that Oyo govt will fully fund the project and they reduced the cost of the project but ( they never say the amount) while the company won't be putting toll gate anymore but (I don't know if Oyo govt will put toll gate if it's done because he never say)

Don’t you think it is better road networks are in place to make enhance agriculture business in those area? Lack of good roads is what Lagos state is facing right now,we don’t need to wait for sign of traffic before constructing roads.

True

But ibadan already has a very good road network.

Government just need to maintain them and perhaps create more alternative route.

What we need is more industries to provide job for youth.

Port Harcourt

Port Harcourt was founded in 1912 by Frederick Lugard, governor of both the Northern Nigeria Protectorate and the Southern Nigeria Protectorate. Port Harcourt is a very prominent city and also the oil and gas headquarters in West Africa. Port Harcourt- Aba road in Port Harcourt is a 10 lanes superhighway. History of Nigeria cannot be written without Port Harbourt taking a prime place. Port Harcourt hosts alot of multinational oil companies like Shell, Agip, Total, Chevron, etc. Port Harbourt is thus the oil and gas capital of Nigeria and West Africa at large.
There is no ten-lane road in phc. Aba road which is de biggest road in phc is a four- lanes road.

Kai, why are you using a library picture of Nnamdi Azikiwe Highway in Abuja. Precisely coming from the National Stadium towards Berger Roundabout and before Obasanjo Way ? The green Separator fencing gives it away. Or has Kano copied and pasted from Abuja ?

Re: Nigerian Cities With 10 Lanes Superhighways- Pictures by Nwaelohim: 4:41pm On May 09, 2020
The only reason you mentioned Port Harcourt is probably because you are posting this from there or you have never been to PHC before. There's is no any road anywhere in Rivers State that has 10 lane,
also because you have never been to the north that's why you didn't mention Borno state, Kano, kaduna, Gombe and many more, have you been to Ibadan? Or uyo. Before you start a trend ask questions of do a research. Google is very friendly. Port Harcourt picture you added here is in front of Zenith Bank towards NDDC office by GRA junction. That ABA road at that point is 4*4 8lanes
Re: Nigerian Cities With 10 Lanes Superhighways- Pictures by Eastlink(m): 4:51pm On May 09, 2020
OP Aba Road is not 10 lanes.
You should have added the following to the list:

Oshodi-Apapa Express Way Lagos
New Airport Road Ikeja - Lagos
New Badagry Express way - Lagos
Nnamdi Azikiwe Airport Road - Abuja
New Lagos Ibadan Express way

The city was named after Sir Lewis Harcourt and was founded in 1912. Though they existed some villages there but it was the British port and railway project that opened up the city. The story of P/H is similar to that of Enugu, Kaduna, Lokoja etc.
