Ca-covld-19 Has Raised Up To N27bn To Fund Nigeria's Own COVID-19 Vaccine - CBN by sexyYBMB: 9:44am On May 13, 2020
The CBN had announced that CA-COVID-19 has raised N27bn as Nigeria plans to produce its own COVID-19 Vaccine.

The Central Bank of Nigeria revealed it will be funding Nigerian researchers and science institutions as they look forward to producing its own COVID-19 vaccine.

CBN says it is developing a framework under which grants and long term facilities will be provided to researchers, science institutions and biotechnology firms to develop COVID-19 vaccine.

The Governor of the Central Bank of Nigeria, Godwin Emefiele, disclosed this at the unveiling of the THISDAY Dome Testing, Tracing and Treatment Centre, Abuja, on Tuesday.

According to Emefiele, Nigeria can’t afford to wait for foreign countries to develop their vaccines. He said it would be the last in the queue to receive curative remedies from other countries for the teeming population.

He said, “The CBN today challenges Nigerian scientists at home and in the Diaspora to go back to their laboratories and develop a Nigerian vaccine. Once validated by the Health Authorities, the CBN will step in and do the needful for the sake of over 200 million Nigerians now confronted by COVID-19.

“Our inability to accurately predict the extent to which the Coronavirus could spread, and how long it would last, requires that we build sufficient capacity within our health system to contain the spread of the virus, state by state, city by city and preserve the lives of vulnerable Nigerians.

“This requires that we all come together to support the work of the Presidential Task Force in its determination to save lives and stem the pandemic.”

He disclosed that so far the CA-COVlD-19 had raised up to N27bn to fund these initiatives, adding that these donations were being used to build well-equipped isolation centres across the 36 states of the federation.

Lol, Nigerian conspiracy theorists and haters of Bill Gates wey una dey?

Your own government and leaders have now joined the vaccine race. What say you folks now? I'd really love your opinion on what is going on here.

Buhari could not finish Southerners with Herdsmen so he now wants a killer vaccine to complete the job ba?

Or wait, they need the vaccine to deaden our brains so we don't resist their plans to install 5G and implant microchips in our spinal cord?

Waiting peeps.

The truth is that COVID is weak virus that doesn't need a vaccine at all . By next year we would all have developed the herd immunity

Shut up with your half-baked mumbo jumbo nonsense. Life has no replacement. Why wait for your suggestion if a vaccine can be delivered to save lives? Herd immunity my foot.

Your duty is not to provide funding for researchers, it's the duty of private investors and academias for close monitoring especially in Nigeria...

Sharap you puppet , you registered here in April just to push this Vax agenda for who ever is paying you pittance ..tell those paying you the COVID has failed just like Ebola and tell them they have to go back to drawing board again ..
First those paying you genetical modified Ebola to thin the human blood and that failed and you go back an modify a SARs virus to coagulate the human blood and misdirect physician's to think it's a respiratory disease while it's actually a virus that coagulates the human blood which ends ups slowly asphyxiating the human cells and tissue ... At this point the world doesn't need any sinister vaccine what we need are cures and prophylaxy which is already abundant and leave the human body to build it's own immunity

Are you not missing the obvious which is that private investors will operate according to their own pace, stringent conditions and guarantee of ROI.

The government can therefore not leave the fight against this disease pandemic in the hands of private investors who, to begin with, will certainly not be too keen to invest riskily in an economic downturn.

The report highlights the most important consideration which is that the Nigerian government is unwilling to leave the fate of Nigerian lives in the hands of non-Nigerians who have their own people to plan and prioritize for first of all.

Commendable from the Government and indeed what the much richer UK did by directly funding Oxford University-led vaccine effort in response to how urgent it is to find a vaccine rather than vacillate over source of badly needed cash.

Bear in mind that the UK has far more private investment cash than Nigeria and would likely not be short of offers. Yet the UK felt this is something Government must control and supervise for the importance of the project.

The Nigerian government must fund this so that nothing is left to chance.

Indeed bro!!!
One would assume funding the drugs and pharmaceuticals industry would be a sensible form of investment rather than chasing shadows with our money.
India export drugs to the world, who says we can’t invest in such research and development projects.
Vaccines?
