I Lost Some Of My Literary Treasures In Lagos by Orikinla(m): 3:17pm On Jun 09, 2007
I have been in Lagos since last Tuesday.
I discovered that my writings have been destroyed in the Art Studio where I kept them. I kept them with my fellow artist while I was away on locations in the Niger Delta. And the roof of the studio was damaged in the storms whilst my friend was away. The drafts of 8 novels have been totally destroyed. But all my plays, short stories and artworks were not destroyed.
I can rewrite all the novels, but I know that the vital parts would be different from my original compsitions.

I am trying to look on the brighter side that I did not lose everything in my bags of manuscripts.

My editor even feels the pain more, because he knows what such a great loss could do to my psyche. He told me how Prof. Wole Soyinka felt when he lost one of his unpublished works.

I am afraid I cannot recall the details of the stories.
But life goes on.
