The Peoples Democratic Party on Monday said it had noted the alleged assumption of Presidential powers by the Secretary to the Government of the Federation, Mr. Boss Mustapha who announced an additional two weeks for the partial lifting of the COVID-19 induced total lockdown imposed on Nigerians.

The PDP National Publicity Secretary, Mr. Kola Ologbondiyan, said this in a statement, in Abuja, on Monday. He said there was nowhere within the laws of Nigeria that the powers to broadcast presidential executive orders such as the declaration of curfews and restriction of movements vested in the Office of the SGF.

He said the action of the SGF has brought serious confusion in the polity regarding the legality or otherwise of the directives contained in the SGF’s announcement.

Ologbondiyan said, “Such powers are vested in the person and office of Mr. President and not exercisable by proxy, directly or indirectly; which makes the action of the SGF a recipe for serious constitutional crisis in our country.

“Our nation is a state governed by dictates of the law, particularly in the exercise of powers vested in statutory offices, especially that of the President.

“The PDP holds that the announcement by the SGF is, therefore, another manifestation of abuse of our statutory offices arising from the abdication of responsibilities by President Buhari since the last five years, which had also become more pronounced in this fight against COVID-19.”

PDP is right.
Some powers can''t be delegated.
What stops Buhari from taking out 45 minutes of his lifetime to address Nigerians that has been suffering for the past three months
Actions like this give credence to people like me who believe that Buhari is incapacitated.
If he is no longer fit to take up his responsibilities as President, he should be honourable enough to resign

We need the economy to be reopened.

It's quite obvious this government is going by the rise in coronavirus cases in extending the lockdown/curfew. Another proactive measures should be adopted in curbing the spread of coronavirus because the lock down/curfew didn't work, isn't working.

If the government continues this trend, recession is inevitable.

SGF is now the defacto president of Nigeria. This government is sweet die. In fact no one could even predict who is the president of Nigeria. Osinbajo has been dumbed into political oblivion. Even things were not this bad for the vice President during OBJ era. I'm still wondering what the used to silence the man totally. Political calculation comes 2023 is still a mirage cos APC must not come to power again. It must never happen.

The could not say a word when wike went out of line.
Opposition should not be ridiculed, in politics opposition party is the bedrock of policies where ideas spring up but in Nigeria they appear more foolish than the lifeless ruling party. We have no hope.

The lock down rules in Nigeria is flawed, letting people out at a particular time doesn’t make any sense. The fact that other countries are on lock down doesn’t mean we should follow them. The FG should do the needful by lifting the lockdown, people are starving, bread winners are losing their income, before the economy becomes totally irredeemable, they should let people lose from the systematic house arrest.

The Buhari government is filled with people with nonchalant attitude towards a very serious issue. The people at that taskforce don't know zilch about coronavirus. They just stand there and read a couple of prepared speeches and leave. They need to be more proactive in the fight against Covid 19 because in the end na all of us go suffer am. We all know that our President is in a vegetative state so lets us leave that one aside. The man may be half dead but extending the first phase of opening the economy by two weeks is crass! 35k tests for three months is a slap on the face, we have the highest rate of cases per test done and it is appalling to me that there is something fishy about this taskforce and NCDC. It is a shame to be called a Nigerian undecided
