I've heard some stories in Yoruba land of people being carried away by Aja (whirlwind). These people were brought back at a later date with some special powers or deformity (such as deafness, dumbness or other disabilities). Those stories tend to be similar to UFO Abduction stories. Are they related? Is there anyone in the house who has seen anyone that went through the whirlwind phenomenon? Let's hear your views please. Thanks for your contribution.

The stories are widespread in rural areas. You've not encountered such doesn't make it mythical.

Interesting topic.
Similarities between the two occurrence tends to portray they are one and the same event in different cultural settings.
It is almost unbelievable that the universe with quintillions of planets stars only has life in one insignificant planet in an insignificant solar system of regular galaxy.

If we posit that there may be life elsewhere, then it wont be too much to assume that some race would have sufficiently advanced enough to break the technological barriers necessary for interstellar travel especially given the age of the cosmos.

Of course the overly religious folks would disagree.
But why "create" zillions of useless planets and stars if all you wanna populate with life is Terra?
Seems like a huge waste of matter.

I agree with the part where they are seen as the same phenomenon. A flying saucer whirling overhead and sucking up a human towards it would look like a whirlwind to an (ancient or ignorant) African.
