Life is too cheap in Nigeria. The police and the military are trigger happy and do not have any qualms using their weapons against civilians. Our military is used to suppress the people instead of protecting the people. Why not arrest the rioters like they do in a civilized nation?

It's like you have not heard of Jos crises and the attendant killings and maiming of citizens by citizens themselves, that's why you are talking like this. Please, read about the Jos crises first and do a reappraisal of your comment.

Meanwhile, those who know about the Jos crises and the attendant mayhem, who still believe that "shoot-at-sight order" is inhuman, undemocratic, and even unacademic, should enlist into the army/police and go to Jos, and use water canon, batons, teargas and rubber bullets to disperse dangerously armed crowd. I know Seun will grant me permission to create a thread here on Obituary for the Jos Gallant Nairalanders.

The Beroms say they don't want the army in their area any more now this kind thing is issued?! Ethnic cleansing has taken another level in the Jos crises. Isn't GEJ the C-in-C anymore? Why not send the poice to protect berom residents first.Well we'll see what's next.

Why will someone be supporting the idea of shoot to kill. Why? Are humans?

Agreed that the crises in Plateau is not riot, but do anyone of you think that giving the soilders the order to shoot and kill will be the solution? Don't you guys know that there are stray bullets that kill innocents? Some people here will claim that they are christains and others will say they are muslims, but support the idea of indescriminate killing of people.

Agreed the Jos crises is getting out of hand, and it is not an ordinary riot but the solution is simple

What should have been done long time ago was to tactically segregate the society into two and create a kind of a buffer zone between them untill parmanent solution of citizenship, indegineship and whatever their grievances are, is found. The crises is in Jos is a national one and if not addressed soon, it will reverbate in other part of the country, if not now later.

For goodness sake, the crises in Plataeu shouldn't have been allowed to reach this level.

lol, grin

Have you heard of a word called research ?

Also, it appears your already biased mind has refused to accept that the officers responsible were in fact Muslim.

Blowing hot breeze, talk is cheap.
I say, shoot any killer/rioter between the eyes, this will be more effective than a million words.

You are the one who is afraid of dying. These people have already seen death. Inhumane death and they have been living with fear of death for years and this has become a norm to them. It is now their culture. These people are traumatised. Permanently. This is not going to do anything. It might result in escalation of the war.

These people have already lost faith in the military. What do you think will happen if the army kill few people within the next couple of days? Do you think they will run away and hide? No!!!! They will mobilise and fight back. They already don't trust the army. This is just a recipe of genocide. We are going to see the repeat of Bosnia, or Isreal Invasion of Gaza in 2008/2009. When people are hardened, they don't fear death. A permanent and peaceful solution is required to end this crises

Re: Nigerian flashpoint city Jos: Army shoot-to-kill orders - BBC by KaluAkanu: 1:44am On Jan 19, 2011
Now we all know that this army is biased. Of course they will shoot Christians, but they will turn a blind eye to Muslims killing innocent Christians. I am sick and tired of this nonsense.
Re: Nigerian flashpoint city Jos: Army shoot-to-kill orders - BBC by Obiagu1(m): 1:49am On Jan 19, 2011
This is how it works in Nigeria. Do the killing first unprovoked, kill as much as you can, then the FG will call in the army to prevent any reprisal.
You lost? Those that waited to be killed first. sad
Re: Nigerian flashpoint city Jos: Army shoot-to-kill orders - BBC by hakanai(m): 10:07am On Jan 19, 2011
people saying they do not support, need to be in Jos to acknowledge the importance of this order. undecided In that poo hole called J-town life is so cheap taking it is like taking break fast.It is a wild wild west.Do you know without the orders already, is systematically in place to cub alot of possible large scale onslaught on the innocent. The muslim and xtian groups in Various communities are ready to commit genocide on a large scale.
The violence can be started over little issues as siting smoke going high.A family trying to pack for a trip and it is simply misunderstood as relocating for safety from an up coming fighting.Instantly the next rival person nearest is lynched to death and burnt.Only if a security operative is there and shooting em up.If such security operatives wait for clearance to use brute force,The devastation becomes horrible and within minutes you can't imagine the loss.Even the residence beg for shoot to kill, when such fights are triggered.Only then would people go home and remain at home and anybody outside knows he is out to be killed.
I was there after xmas and brother i tell you a shoot to kill order is only what grantees instant return to normalcy.Arms are everywhere and its getting really worst and dangerous.Forget this soft heart thing. For me Jos has no law and order and the State hardly is working. The Governor is non existent and hardly can control poo.People are so like divided, that it is like rival nations in state. undecided
Some areas as your leg enter,na the end be that. They are so fond of killing themselves that they have no remorse and no ounce of sympathy or interest in reconciliation.
For now anyone loving peace hardly can get any in JOS.I tell you to enter Jos requires an up to date map identifying your friendly ares and not to go areas.forget it i weep for what Jos has become and i wish it.May God forgive us all.But i doubt if they in JOS will see heaven if what we hear about God is true. Both xtians and Muslims that is.  undecidedforget sentiments. They are animals and cold blooded killers.aspiring genocidal maniacs. cry angry From secret instigation to the committing of such violence is what they are good at.Inclusive of the government. This is one year and still counting and the lives and property are still being destroyed. angry I want to even know the long term plans the government have to manage this situation.except if they have no regards for the populace.

@Haka nai, well spoken like your user name infers. Lalai ka ba da gaskiya. For all those saying the shoot at sight order is "barbaric" or "undemocratic", my belief is that you all may need to see with your naked eyes whats happening in Jos. By the you do, I bet y'all will run back hear asking that entire inhabitants of Jos should be nuked.
People are there chopped with matchets into minced meat, entire families set ablaze & thrown in to wells at night including infants and y'all saying poo on the net! Perhaps after eating hamburgers with a hot cup of chocolate moose! Nonsence!!
