If there is one offence that many feel Ibrahim Babangida offended Nigerians, it will be the annulment of the most fair election in 1993.

Many feel that he still needs to apologise to us for that incident because many people have lost hope in the electoral system since then and many have vowed to not vote since then?

It's been about 26 years now since the annulment of that election won by Moshood Abiola and Nigeria would have of course taken another turn in democracy and prosperity instead of other regimes of the military and corruption.

He lives in his hilltop mansion in his hometown, Minna, he grants interviews but there hasn't been a detailed memoir, like a book, where he explains his experience as head of state, which of course should include what happened in 1993, with reasons of his annulment of that election.

Is it one of those things we will just never get an explanation for?

Some said he cannot wear his shoes anymore but whatever sickness he has, it is normal for some people at old age as he is 78.


Does Babangida need to apologise to Nigerians or you already know why he did what he did?

He doesn't owe Nigerians any apology rather the reverse holds.

IBB, as popularly known, single-handedly saved Nigeria from a danger it was heading to in 1984 by overthrowing he government of the day through coup-de-tat. This duty call was so the only saving grace Nigerians had but they decided to fall back to "Egypt".

Today, the man did his best and sacrificed so much to his father land but the people did not see it. Today, they are reaping what they sow. OBJ, Saraki, Atiku, Tambuwal, can never have the kind of peace IBB is enjoying.
