God bless you for your tireless meaningful inputs to this thread.
Please can you help with a list of what will build 5kva system? Thank you.

I don't know how much back up you need (how long you want it to last) but this is what you basically need

1. 5kva inverter (300k-350k)
2. Battery 12v 200A 4pcs ( quanta = 200k, starplus tubular = 145k, genus tubular=180k this are lagos prices location and logistics will make it vary)
3. Solar panel 250w * 9 ( if you are on a low budget don't go less than this. 12pcs will be succulent )
4. Charge controller MPPT 80A 130k -150k (Depends on product)
5. Mounting accessories 17k
6. Battery Rack 20k
7. Wire 2k- 2.3kyrd
8. Change over, breakers etc 10-12k
9. AC wire
10. Thunder surge (15-22k)

This is basically what you will be needing.

Re: Solar Power For An Average Middle Class Household by feelme3(m): 3:34pm On Jun 08, 2023
Thank you for this breakdown sir. Here's the appliances I will need to power.
They may not all be powered simultaneously.

55" LCD TV (160w)
30" LED TV (not sure the watts)
2 Dstv decoder
1 Home Theatre
1.5hp AC
1 6kg Washing Machine is
1.5hp Pumping Machine
1hp window unit
150L Thermocool chest freezer
4 ceiling fans
15 Energy bulbs (PoP ceiling & outside lights)
2 Laptops

My area do have guaranteed power from 11pm to 5am daily. Is a budget of 1.5M feasible for this?

No 1.5m is not feasible. You should be looking at 6m upward
Your battery bank will be large if you want to embark on this project.

Powering 2 AC no be moi moi.

So you are looking at roughly 18hrs back up power.

Wow. 6M no be here o. Like I said, no be say the two AC go dey on at the same time o. The window unit is mostly used at night (bedroom)
Except for the TVs, Home Theatre, Dstv, and the 1.5hp AC that are usually run daytime. The pumping machine na like days NEPA no give light, pumps like 30mins. So if I try reach 2M I can't get up to 10hrs on the aforementioned load?

The yeah lithion is the manufacturer of the inverter and battery.

For the battery you will need to buy 2pcs (that inverter requires 24v).

I have been seeing ads so much these days about power stations. And they can be charged by solar

I wanted to ask what are the pros & cons between the solar-inveter-battery set up and the solar-power station set up

please my worried is about this inverter of a tin, does it meant that the sachet inverter will do same job as those of 65k sine wave or the mounted one. Will it carry appliances up to it's watts because most of them are cheaper. I am using sunking with fan but I want something to power my two tvs and decoders

Sachet inverter are good in powering resistive loads like TV, phones, laptops etc.
However they have problems powering fans, fridges etc. They make humming sound when powering such gadgets.

The 65k pure sine wave inverter will power your loads without distortion/noise.

Beside there is a pure sine wave version of sachet inverter 1000w (continuous power of 500w) sells around 32k+

From my personal experience (it's open to scrutiny), avoid solar power stations that are made in China. Reason is when they develop faults, it's gone because they might not be easily fixed.

If you decided to go with power station, patronize made in Nigeria e get why (there are a lot of good brands with warranty)

Solar power station are mobile and can easily be moved around.

As for the solar inverter battery setup, con is they are stationary and heavy. Any other factors can be mitigated based in the design.

I think this is all I can remember.

By the way I have a fairly used 200w panel for sale ( location is warri, price is 42k slightly negotiable)

So for the power station, it's the same calculation of my load that I'd use to determine what to get right?
