We mustn't always side the outsider. This is not a religious thing. It's business and competition is an integral part of business. It's simple economics. Those Dubai residents buying from the cheaper vendors don't have Qur'ans? If you were there, would you buy from the more expensive ones to please the holy book?

Fact is, Nigerian vendors wouldn't reduce their prices if they weren't still making gains with it. Others can reduce theirs but greed wouldn't let them part with that extra income. Didn't the qur'an have anything to say about greed? Except there is a written agreement signed by an association, I don't see any reason why you'd fight someone for his selling price. If it's a sin, pray to Allah to punish them.

Nigerians just want to be normal human beings but Africans will not let them. Africans want to be meek and unthreatening to other races in order to find acceptance. Nigerians do not want to be meek since Nigerians feel that they are humans and not Black.


I’ll use this situation that is supposed to have happened in Dubai to paint a scenario that may help illustrate what I mean.

In the Dubai market, let us imagine that all sorts of nationalities and races trade there. The Asians, whites and Arabs outsell the Africans and generate greater profit often by being adventurous with the rules of the country. The nature of Nigerians will see Nigerians decide that they are going to do as the Asians, Whites and Arabs. The nature of the rest of Africa will see them keep to the rules out of fear of rocking the boat. The result will be that the Nigerians will begin to prosper like their Asian, White and Arab trader counterparts. The other type of Africans will become secretly annoyed by the Nigerian successes in the way that they were not annoyed by the Asian, White and Arab traders. The Asians, Whites and Arab sellers will become a little miffed at the Nigerians whittling down their market share and will resort to mumblings about the Nigerians. This will embolden the other African types who will then start challenging the Nigerians. This will lead to overt confrontations between Nigerians and the other African types. In the end, all sides will demonise the Nigerians.



I don’t support Nigeria uniting with the rest of Africa because they will hold back Nigeria.

What Quran says is that prevention of sales at price lower than the going rate is only allowed when it becomes the only means by which the interest of people can be served [al-Baqarah 2:275]. In that wise, majority of the jurist (Hanafi madhhab, the shaafa'is, the Hanbalis, Ibn Rush among the Maalikis, and of ibn Hazam, among the zaahiris] have the view that sales can be done at reduced price. And Allah knows best.
