OBASEKI can you get to five round of this U F C match?
Re: Edo Primaries: INEC Backs Oshiomhole by heykims(m): 8:08am On Jun 07, 2020
This is a delicate period for Obaseki.
If Oshiomole loses this fight, life continues but if Obaseki loses, this might just6be the end of his political career.

Obaseki has a point because he is the number one security officer of his state and the protection of the lives of his people lies on his shoulder but funny enough things doesn't work the way it should in this country, so the power tussle comes into play in Edo politics

obaseki should learn how to fight political battles intelligently without running into unnecessary tensions. An executive order by a governor cannot stop people from gathering for elections. No executive order can regulate the conduct/mode of operations of political parties in Nigeria. The Constitution of Nigeria and the electoral act is greater than even an executive order from the President.Without elections there is no democracy. The only scenario where elections can be regulated by executive order is when the Constitution is suspended.Forexample, the PDP in Edo state has ward Congresses to elect non statutory delegates for their indirect primary slated for tomorrow,is Obaseki saying the PDP should not gather across the state for this exercise?
You are so intelligent and your analysis is very superb, party must write INEC 21 days before the primary and they cant change the mode of primary again, the election is sacrosant and no executive order can change it.

I said this last week that the Electoral Act as amended gives the NWC to choose the mode of primary but those online e-warriors who don’t know anything about the law we’re here calling us names. Obaseki is a goner even if he move to another party he will be disgraced after he hand over. Oshiomhole waited forever this time to put the final nail on Obaseki’s political coffin and now he will bury it.
No Gazzetted order can stop the primary election because the electoral act and the constitution overrides the useless order Obaseki is relying on. Sometimes I wonder how all this politicians pass in school.

What is Obaseki's sin? No response.

How is Yaya Bello of Kogi whom Oshiomole gave the ticket for a second term without any hassle better than Obaseki to his state and people? Yet, no response.

I pity for all of una lives and future.

Keep hailing and clapping for your collective enemies.

APC has lost Edo State ... lose Obaseki ,,, lose EDO! A seating governor has POWER over any godfather, except he is a dundee.

All those masturbating over NWC and Oshomole holding primaries in 192 wards forgot that same Obaseki prevented Oshomole's mock primaries that they had to shift location to Abuja. What is he going to do differently this time Let Obaseki fight to set the standard. No more godfatherism. Do your term and go and rest and let others do theirs.

Just 500 gun trotting tuggs is enough to disrupt the primaries and NOTHING go happen.

Lastly most people do not know that Aliko Dangote is an interested party in Edo 2020. He is the godfather of Obaseki, and arguably made him governor not Oshomole. And you know what? Buhari has Aliko's ears ... if you know, you know! Not ranting SW media and Iyamus online touts.

See Tinubu people supporting spread of Covid-19 in Edo State. They care not about Edo people. But support anyone under control of Tinubu.

Edo should Wise up. Don't allow external forces to use selfish people turn Edo into a bloody war zone.

It's Lucky Igbinedion's idiocy that made Oshiomole king Kong.

Maybe this crisis is a good thing. A party that cannot peacefully organise primaries deserves no governorship position.

The reason why Kogi APC choose indirect primary is because there was no faction in the state Exco.
But in the case of Edo there are 2 factional chairman, if you read the news you will see 2 people claiming to be chairman of the party. In a situation like this the best option is to go for Direct Primary to let the party members choose the flag bearer than allowing one faction to decide and the losing part will go to court. APC is avoiding Zamfara and Rivers issue.

Executive orders by a governor can stop large gathering of people, if such gathering can lead to a spike in death cases.

Remember the primary role of a governor is to protect lives and properties of it's citizenry.

So in this case, large gathering of people might lead to spike of covid 19 which invariably will cause loss of lives...and as such, he as the governor is performing his primary job, which is protection of lives, by preventing such scenario.

This is actually the submission of a senior lawyer though..

his executive order is null and void since we run Federal Police system, and the request for a primary election and governorship election came from federal INEC, he doesn't have such powers to upsurge federal might

The governor, who spoke through his Special Adviser on Media and Communication Strategy, Mr Crusoe Osagie, told one of our correspondents on Saturday, “The Presidential Task Force on COVID-19 has said in its briefings that states should manage the pandemic through measures unique to their states. On the basis of that, we have deployed this measure in Edo State, the rule has been gazetted and so direct primaries cannot hold here as far as that regulation is concerned. So, it has to be indirect, in order to be working in line with the extant rule in the state

Going by this Obaseki’s rule/law...

Even the main election to be conducted by INEC can not hold!

My brother, you and I know your response above is best termed " trying to be clever by half".

Last last, APC will be okay.

We'd all witness as it all unfolds.

Keep watch.

It would soon get to the " nothing to lose" point.

Instead of obaseki to mobilize his supporters to prepare for the direct primary, he's deceiving himself with the indirect mode that will not stand before the law.
They'll will come out across the various party wards, vote and write figure and place obaseki a distant 4th and the result will be upheld while he holds his own at the stadium. Mumu man!

It hurts to realize and begin to accept the fact that the population of morons in the country dwarfs the reasonable voices, thereby truly making any rescue of whatever is left of the future of the country an exercise in futility.
