On the contrary, Ambode was the stronger man. He knows when to give up a stupid fight against those he can't win. This foolish Obaseki keep digging his own grave everyday.

Oshio baba was also a terrible governor. Obaseki didn't dance to his tone of godfatherism and that's why he's acting this way.

We are in a pandemic and the Governor has the right to curtail movements where necessary if information reaching him shows that such would be detrimental to the health of the state.

So how did Obaseki bite the people?... or are the people no longer the provider of the food and eligible voters?...

Castigate the man based on his achievements, and not based on sharing the peoples resources to political cabals.

So how will the main election hold?

Executive orders by a governor can stop large gathering of people, if such gathering can lead to a spike in death cases.

Remember the primary role of a governor is to protect lives and properties of it's citizenry.

So in this case, large gathering of people might lead to spike of covid 19 which invariably will cause loss of lives...and as such, he as the governor is performing his primary job, which is protection of lives, by preventing such scenario.

This is actually the submission of a senior lawyer though..

So how will the main election hold? Ask the senior lawyer

It would when the Governor feels a general election would no longer cause fatal harm to its populace due to the pandemic.. or an alternative means that makes election possible without harm comes into effect..

inec a federal institution is the one conducting the election.
Base on precedence set already by inec by successful conducting local govt election in Benue without spike in covid19 case. Obaseki has no excuse before the law.

It's still within the Jurisdiction of the Governor from authorised sources to determine if it's safe to hold elections in a pandemic.

Lol that’s where you’re wrong .
1. Whether or not election holds Obaseki ceases to be a governor by 12th November 2020 as he was sworn in on 12th November 2016 . That aspect has been settled by the constitution and the courts

2. INEC must give notice of elections 90 days before the election as stipulated by the electoral act and that means election must hold in September

So basically what he is doing is daring the APC to either allow him win or risk not fielding a candidate at which point the presidency will either tell Oshiomole to back off or order police to secure the venue of all direct primaries and go ahead with the primary.

It’s a bold move by Obaseki sha COVID 19 public health emergency is a real life saver for him.

Who is Obaseki? Saint John?

Forget that one. The Governor is just fighting for political survival. There is nothing righteous from both sides.

He did not play his cards and strategy well. He lost already. If he tries to disrupt the Primary Election, his thugs will be dealt with. New Commissioner of Police already installed. Go figure!

inec have already released guiidlines accordingly .Edo is not the Epicenter of covid19 . obaseki should stop playing around, cos you can't stop inec from carrying out their constitutional duty because of flimsy excuse.

APC has lost Edo State ... lose Obaseki ,,, lose EDO! A seating governor has POWER over any godfather, except he is a dundee.

All those masturbating over NWC and Oshomole holding primaries in 192 wards forgot that same Obaseki prevented Oshomole's mock primaries that they had to shift location to Abuja. What is he going to do differently this time Let Obaseki fight to set the standard. No more godfatherism. Do your term and go and rest and let others do theirs.

Just 500 gun trotting tuggs is enough to disrupt the primaries and NOTHING go happen.

Lastly most people do not know that Aliko Dangote is an interested party in Edo 2020. He is the godfather of Obaseki, and arguably made him governor not Oshomole. And you know what? Buhari has Aliko's ears ... if you know, you know! Not ranting SW media and Iyamus online touts.

Just be patient, you will soon know that all you are saying is rubbish. Aliko Dangote knows better not to interfere in a situation like this. He tried settling them but to no avail. He knows this is purely political hence would not poke nose so that he will not end up harming his business interests.

I used to be angry against those supporting and hailing Oshiomhole until I realized that in any civil society, NOT everybody has the same level of sanity and objective reasoning.

The preponderance of evil minds in Nigeria is very alarming. This is the reason for our woes cry

no need for too much English. Everybody have a right to support who they choose to support. It will be better you show maturity and sanity by allowing them observe their right of association. Don't see anybody who seem not to agree with your views as stupid or evil. With your seeming enlightenment, would you then call all African traditional religion worshippers evil or insane? please the watch word is TOLERANCE. This is exactly the character your principal, Governor Godwin Obaseki has that is making everything difficult for him now. He forgot that being a leader means you should be able to manage people of all kinds. The good, the bad and the ugly. He should be able to tolerate opposing views by first listening, the using interpersonal and persuasive skills try to make them buy into his own views so as to enable him get a consensus to achieve his goals since we are in a democratic era which requires numbers. To him, it is either you with me or you are an opposition and being an opposition, you should be thrown out of the bus. This attitude has made him throw away the baby and the bath water. Now he is trying to force those he alienated for years to now come and support his second term bid by force. This is no matter of Tinubu or Oshiomole. It is a matter of him fighting the political class. Even if one is a technocrat(as he says he is), the moment you join politics you become a politician. A good politician should have persuasive skills. But our Governor says no, he is not a politician but a technocrat. Well he is just technocrat, no wonder he has taking such novice decisions all these while. But how can a fish be in water and say it will never swim(in the case of Obaseki's, using persuasive skills in placating people with opposing views) ?

Be speaking grammar, some weeks back, south Korea conducted a general election during the pandemic.... Obaseki cannot bank on a covid 19 virus as a ruse not to do primary.. If inec, ncdc and fg says it is okay to conduct election in Edo state.. Nothing obaseki will do!

Obaseki knew what he was doing by dishing out Covid-19 figures for Edo. All of a sudden, Edo is number 4 of NCDC Covid-19 table.
But Oshobaba still no go gree.
This is a delicate period for Obaseki.
If Oshiomole loses this fight, life continues but if Obaseki loses, this might just be the end of his political reign.

I guess its only Edo that has Covid 19 grin in Nigeria.

I am not from Edo neither supporting Oshomole. Just thinking about godfather.

As far as politics is concerned the in the world, there is no where there is no godfather. It exists even in the USA, UK, France etc whose democracy Nigeria seeks to imitate as opposed to military system of government. The same Obaseki is a product of a godfather if we look at it holistically. I also stand to be corrected, if Obaseki is favored and he gets a second term, he would want to influence who would succeed him as governor. So what are we not talking about. Godfatherism leaves with us. It is part of our system. A child whose uncle is a lecturer in a university was helped to get an admission into that university despite his relatively low post UTME and Jamb score at the detriment of another candidate who scored a relatively higher Post UTME and Jamb score. That child who got the admission got it because he had a godfather(his uncle). Hence is godfather is his uncle. This happens in every other sector of Nigeria. Civil service, Military etc

Some of us are just funny set of humans. Same people saying there is no COVID-19 in Nigeria, scandemic, Covid-419 etc.are now saying Gov Obaseki is preventing the spike in Covid in Edo State by his Executive Orders. For information, Executive orders give way once the orders clash with the Constitution and Codified Laws of the land like the Electoral Act. It happened even recently in America where the Wisconsin's Supreme Court ruled that the lockdown guidelines initiated by the Governor has no effect whatsoever on the party primaries as will be determined by the parties.

This is just the beginning and Obaseki is saying he'd stop the direct primaries. Does he even have control over security forces to enforce it? INEC has sided with the party and be sure they won't accept any other mode of primaries. If the state conducts its own primaries beside what the NWC approves, the party chairman can decide not to accept it.

Governor Obaseki, I know you are reading or Crusoe Osagie is. Oshiomole is a problem because you created it. Oshiomole lacks the clout of a political heavyweight like Tony Anenih. Go and placate the 14 house of assembly members, Tony Kabaka and state party leaders like Pius Odubu, Chris Ogiemwonyi, Solomon Edebiri and Ize-Iyamu, and make the necessary compromises. You are busy fighting your imaginary enemy (Oshiomole) while ignoring the real power brokers in Edo State who determine the tide of elections. Oshiomole cannot unilaterally order the other politicians to drop their ambitions and support you because they are not there to serve Oshiomole's interest but theirs. Go and engage in horse-trading, get their buy-in and reduce Oshiomole's influence in Edo politics. The way to do it is not by going to Tinubu or Buhari or issuing infantile threats like telling the national chairman to recuse himself from the party primaries being an interested party or saying that you are not in support of direct primaries. Every member of the party is an interested party. A good war general does not talk about his moves, he makes them like Oshiomole is currently doing.

You may need to hire consultants and lobbyists to advise you properly and stop listening to people like Charles Idahosa and Anslem Ojezua. Left to me, I'd tell you to throw in the towel because if they mess you up, you can as well forget about taking any board or political appointment in Nigeria or abroad because a political neophyte is seen as a liability everywhere.
