People who don't have voter's cards let alone political parties' members cards will be analysizing political issues like political juggernauts!

Political parties and NOT tribes contest elections and account for 70% of the success needed to win.

This is the reason why Gov Obaseki's disqualification from the APC's primaries is generating uproar. This is the same reason why Obaseki is thinking of joining the PDP instead of say APGA, AD or Labour party.

This is the reason how Dr Ahmed Lawan from the Bade Tribe of just about 700,000 people can become the num-3 citizen in Nigeria.

A candidate from Bachama Tribe of less than a Million People can contest on the platform of a major party and win.

If Tribe is all that's needed, then some tribes have no hope of becoming President, Vice President, Senate President, Chief Judge or anything in the next 100 years.

You have the right to delude yourself that tribe doesn't matter in the politics of nigeria.

You are yoruba, your propensity to lie to yourself so you can afford to be happy, avoid bitter realities and throw an owambe party is well known and hugely beyond belief. So ride on, but reality awaits at the end of the honeymoon ride. grin

Nigerians and their tribalistic, hypocritic and slavery tendencies.
How is a good ruler and development concerned with tribe? this mentality is killing us and will continue to kill us. Your education is useless if you still reason in alignment with greedy politicians that has manipulated you to think and support based on religion and tribe.
I only believe in good govt and not tribe.

This is one of the more reason Nigeria must be restructured or fragmented because the factors pulling this nation apart are far more greater than any unifying factor if there is any.

The Yoruba , Ijaw, Fulani or Nupe candidates in all the parties should contest for the Presidency for their country. . .This is the best way to make our democracy mature.

It will also make the upcoming generation to have confidence that the democratic process works and that their works, resources, time, dedication and loyalties to a political party can be rewarded.

Being shocked is irrelevant because every candidate already knows he can either win or lose the election.
There can only be a single winner. Those who lose in 2023 can win in 2027 or 2031.

You can't win all the time, you win sometimes and you lose sometimes.

We can't say because of the fear of defeat and not aspire for the highest post in the land.

There's nothing in what you are saying that a serious candidate running for the presidential election will not have thought of (strategies to win, your dependable allies, undetermined voters, swing States and opposition strongholds).

Cheers.

Do you want to know the truth?

yorubas actually have deceived themselves for so long that since the north and east do not get along on socio-political and religious issues, the east will vote prefer a yoruba come what may. So they believe they can always play "double agent" and get away with it.

yorubas propagated "Igbo will never president" propaganda since 1970s. They also propagated "a vote for Ibo is a vote for Biafra" in their newspapers in that era. Today they pretend that "hate speech" started with Nnamdi Kanu who became popular just a couple of years ago. grin grin

They will be shocked beyond "shockability" in 2023. Two can play the game. grin

The only people seriously clamoring for power to remain in the north are south easterners for envious reasons. Their thinking is if they can’t get it, let’s ensure no one from the south gets it.

Atiku is only flowing along with the wave that these people from the south are pushing. No serious person is giving the idea a thought other than those who intends to create chaos and confusion. Good enough, they are not strong enough to cause any serious political disruption. Reasonable and well meaning Nigerians who are not motivated by envy and hate shall always prevail.
u are a big comedian , when u will know if the people of easterners have political strength or not is when they are the only deciding factor, the west are trying to make a big gamble by wrestling power with the north if they succeed they will become a very strong power broker in Nigeria,is a suicide mission.the east has done it and they are in political wilderness in today Nigeria. The only difference is the west will come together to fight it.unlike the easterners that will be divided among themselves.
That might be an advantage to the west during the election.

The 12 SHARIA STATES HAD SINCE 2001 DRAWN THE BORDERS OF A SHARIA COUNTRY IN NORTHERN NIGERIA.

Itsa Sagay,

You are a professor of Law. You know that Islamic Sharia criminal laws, including, cutting off hands of thieves, stoning women to death for adultery, death for apostasy, etc were not allowed in the 1999 Constitution supervised by Moslem military dictators from northern Nigeria. The dictators must have understood the impossible practice of Islamic Sharia criminal justice system in a multi religious society like Nigeria.

So, have the 12 northern Sharia States that urinated upon Nigeria’s Constitution through adoption of unconstitutional Islamic Sharia criminal justice system, not tactically separated from Nigeria, but still glued to one Nigeria because of crude oil in the Niger Delta?

Northern Nigeria’s separatists started by adopting unconstitutional Islamic Sharia criminal justice system as protest against Obasanjo as president of Nigeria.
So what is left about split in Nigeria?

Seems to be the most likely thing that's going to happen.

But what if at the unlikely chance APC picks a SW candidate and PDP a SE candidate.

Well, if APC picks a SW candidate, then they have shot their selves on the foot because PDP knows they are more likely to win against SW candidate if they field a Northern candidate than if they field a SE candidate. Except PDP becomes so daft to field a SE candidate, against APC SW candidate (because PDP will automatically lose)

Both parties will closely calculate each other's step, but if PDP wants to ever smell Aso rock again, they have to go with a Northern candidate. They have no choice.
. So, it will even be more of APC looking out for who PDP will pick than the reverse case and PDP will likely go for North. Anything outside North for PDP is disaster (particularly with Atiku positioning himself)

Both parties will likely compensate the SE with a VP position (considering the fact that the current VP is from SW).

What will even complicate SW issues when the time comes is that they have be president b4 (OBJ) and since 1999, The South has ruled for 14 years (OBJ 8 years, GEJ 6 years), and the North 10 years (Yar adua 2 years, PMB 8 years). So, it will actually be unfair for the presidency to go the South again, talkless of it going to the SW.

Tribes matters but Political parties matters more.
This is the reason why tribal political parties are outlawed by the Constitution.

This is the reason someone from a minority tribe can defeat a candidate from a majority tribe.

Are your tribes men going to mobilize voters to vote for you in all the wards or are your tribes men going to be your agents in all the polling units in Nigeria?

If Buhari or Jonathan has constested on the platform of APGA, SDP or CPD they would have lost.

As a matter of fact, that was why the ACN,ANPP, CPC and part of APGA fused to form APC in 2013.

As per what I believe or Owambe, leave it like that. We can't all reason in the same way sir.

Bros, just relax ,let Nkechinyere be rubbing your back and enjoy yourself with 3 Hero beers and a plate of Isi-Ewu at Mama Ngozi's place. I will settle the bill after leaving our Owambe place.

Tony anenih was a former minister of works in 1999, how does that have to do with anything?

What should I do with the numbers?

Where is the numbers of the 2015 presidential election in the SW? Why do your kinsmen keep saying Yoruba betrayed Jonathan if vote is only by the numbers?

Do you even know Jonathan got roughly 1.8million votes in the SW in 2015?

Do you know the vote he got in the SE is roughly 2.3million votes?

So because of the difference of 500k vote, you igbos have been shouting since that Yoruba betrayed him.

Are you not being an hypocrite by asking me for the numbers?

—Azikwe allied with Balewa in 1959 parliamentary elections.

—Ekwueme allied with Shagari in 1983 election
—Ojuku campaigned openly for Shagari in 1983 elections
—Sylvester Ugoh allied with Tofa in 1993 election.

In 1999, the Igbos voted against a Yoruba preferred candidate Falae and voted for Obasanjo who the northerners wanted. That showed Igbos are eternal Fulani allies that only wail when they are checkmated.

Even in 2011, the Yorubas voted overwhelmingly for Jonathan who was in PDP even with the fact that the Yorubas are majorly ACN then.

If the yorubas were with the ones with the level of political power that the North has, do you think they will share with anybody?
yorubas are a greedy bunch and believe in a winner-takes-all political mentality, that's why they expected all appointment that buhari was to give southerners to come to them.

Some yorubas have even secretly sworn that they will monopolize all appointments when they grab power and remove other nigerians from powerful positions. They did it in NNPC when Fusho Kupolukun was GMD NNPC, monopolizing every appointents therein. I grew with yorubas but I'm sorry I don't think I'm comfortable having them pilot the affairs of this country.

The internet and social media have exposed their mind and evil intentions for others. It's a good thing they have never succeeded in voting a yoruba man into presidency since the beginning of Nigeria and that situation will continue in 2023, if they don't wean themselves off their political greed.

The rest of the south will protest against SW presidency with their votes in 2023. Greed will not be reinforced. It is not yoruba's turn in the south.

The SW has a culture of wanting their own to be around them in offices and every other favorable area of appointment.
The are not very liberal involve other tribe. That's the state of thing in SPDC, NLNG etc
