Governor Udom Emmanuel of Akwa Ibom State has linked Akwa Ibom to Abia State through a long abandoned road in Ini Local Government Area of the state.

True to his assertion that one of the key pillars of leadership is doing the right thing consistently without being distracted by negative criticisms, Governor Emmanuel has transformed the ancient 14.1km Odoro Ikpe/Ikpe Ikot Nkon/Obotme/Arochukwu Road in Ini Local Government Area.

The Governor who has always had it right when it comes to economic development; he foresaw the potentials inherent in the rehabilitation and construction of the road with a 110m span bridge on it.

History has it that the road which has suffered neglect and abandonment for centuries was toured by ancestors dating back to the colonial era, with the bridge serving as a link to the State from Abia.

Thus, the road which is nearing completion has become a link to the past, a plus to the present administration's road infrastructure and a legacy promoting sustainable economic relations for the future. This is even as the Ini/Arochukwu people are known for their prowess in agriculture and farm produce.

Moreso, since accessibility to the state from this road is now being guaranteed, Akwa Ibom can boast of increased investment and commerce from neighbouring states which will boost its IGR.

Build a high border wall and lock the gate.

We should give Udom double Chieftency in Arochukwu. That road is the only reasonable road linking Arochukwu to any major town.

The road changed the negative proverb of
UZO ARO ADIGHI EBE O DI MFE

He should have made it double lane, that would really bring safety and vehicular traffic into this sector. I recall back then whenever I was traveling from Kaduna to Markurdi. Once the day begins to set, vehicles avoid using the one lane "old road" which was in far better shape than the main expressway due to insecurity.
