Mrkcee:

Recall that during the last Edo election, Obaseki won owning to the huge votes returned by Oshiomhole in his wards and LGA; he Obaseki lost even in his ward and LGA. Also recall that Edo state is an APC state, plus the certificate saga trailing Obaseki (which other parties will use against him assuming he eventually wins the second term in another platform); even PDP has been in the court for this same matter.

Now, having falling apart with his principal (Oshiomhole) and party APC, how do you think he ( Obaseki) will go far?
Tell me!

You guys keep harping on this line while forgetting that Obaseki was virtually-unknown then.
It's a totally different scenario now as he's the incumbent. He's well-known now.

One, Oshomole is no longer the incumbent Governor as he was during that election.
Two, Oshomole has been suspended as APC chairman.
Three, PDP is obviously on ground in Edo controlling more Senators, House of Reps members, Local Govt chairmen than APC
Four, Obaseki is the incumbent Governor now unlike 2016 election.
Five, Edo APC is still under the control of Obaseki so much still has to be said about the authenticity of the candidate to be produced by the party.
Six, Obaseki's govt is not owing salaries and pensions, at least the common man will have every reason to vote for him.
Seven, Edo is not Lagos!

Sure!
But then what's the need of winning and election and then loosing in court to an opponent before inauguration.
Remember the Bayelsa (David Lyon) incidence? In Obaseki's case, PDP can't win Edo. Let's even imagine PDP wins, they'll loose in court to another party before inauguration owning to Obaseki's Fake certificate saga. And of course APC will use every Federal might to ensure APC wins!
I really don't find it attractive when people speak confidently about things they either know nothing about or are speculations.
One, there is no certificate issue ( he can even use WAEC at the worst, Constitution didn't mention grades)
Two, its easier for PDP to win Edo with Obaseki, than for Buhari to find his certificate
Three, what is 'federal might' when Obaseki's ambition is aligned with powerful interests at the federal level (across party lines for that matter). You folks just ignore the obvious and prefer to fly with sentiments.
Even if its your right to do so, you should at least lend credence to the facts on ground.
Impending litigations would consume APC faster than Arsenal FC can keep a clean sheet for the remaining part of the season.
Obaseki's only challenge going forward is Obaseki (his decisions, decorum and demeanour); as he has not really 'contested' power before.

General election in different from gubernatorial.
Edo voting pattern last 12yrs has been against PDP in local politics, while pro PDP in national politics.
Despite PDP performance in Edo general election, PDP doesn't have a sit in Edo assembly which comprises of 24 members.

The different between 2016 and 2020 is obaseki will contest without a fordimable political structure and Federal might. Can he pull through?

Obaseki no longer an APC member he has Never been in charge of Edo APC because all the political Gladiators that brought him to power re not on his side apart from paper weight politicians that have beef with oshomole E.g oyegun, idahosa.even the Edo lawmakers on his side re not up to the lawmakers that obaseki refused to inaugurate.

Paying salaries is not Enough, his achievement in infrastructural development and other sectors is what will determined his fate.
Obaseki performance is below par actually he doesnt have much to campaign with.

PS: Where was federal might when he refused to allow swearing-in of 14 legislators (not that I'm supporting illegality). I'm just trying to say facts on ground suggests people what better see Obaseki win Edo, than Oshiomole have his own in APC. It's apl about 2023.
Buhari's loud silence and indifference even water down the so-called federal might. He's like a father who wants his children to fight to earn what they think should belong to them.
